My favorite is 4, recently I heard Stallone say that he knows 5 sucked balls and promised 6 will be way better.

I'll see it when it comes to Redbox.

I saw a Producers Guild screening of it about three weeks ago. It doesn't take itself too seriously and side-steps a lot of the obvious problems with humor- and for that reason, it was pretty enjoyable. Definitely worth seeing. I'm not a huge Rocky fan, but I found it highly entertaining- I'd personally rank it just below the first.

I was driving around on Friday and happened to have the Rush Limbaugh radio show on and he was talking to Sylvester Stallone. Rush got some advanced screening of it and he liked it. He said that he was not expecting it to be good at all, but he was surprised.

He said something along the lines of "I was expecting it to be... well... be..." and Sylvester says, "go on Rush, you can say it." haha, I'm sure Sylvester knows everyone expects it to be crap.

When I first heard/saw "If two athletes from different eras could actually compete against one another, who would come out on top? Computer says, Rocky Balboa," I seriously thought the trailer was a spoof, a la "Titanic 2." To my horror, they're actually bringing Rocky back.

When I first heard that Sylvester was making a new Rocky movie, I didn't want anything to do with it. Seemed silly, to put it mildly.

Then a few weeks ago I'm sitting in the theater, previews start, and it starts rolling the trailer for Rocky Balboa. I roll my eyes and I believe I muttered the words, "Oh god..."

After the trailer was over, I turned to my wife and said, "Damn them!" She looks at me confused.

I SO wanted to hate this new Rocky movie, but by the end of the trailer I was hooked. I think it looks like it's gonna be a great movie.

Damn them!

Yeah, I love it. Best quote paraphrased during the 2nd round:

Commentators: "he's cut, He's cut. The Russian is cut!"
Rocky trainers: "He's human. He's not a machine."
Russian: "He's not human. He's like a piece of iron."

I don't think it breaks the formula of the other rocky movies so if that is the case it may not be too enjoyable.

You know the formula.
Trying to decide whether to fight one more time (apollo, Mr. T, the russian dude, etc)
facing his demons on why he should or shouldn't fight.
New training montage with set against music
The fight with round 1 in real time the others in a music montage
Last round takes 10 minutes and rocky someone pulls out some super human strength to last against a superior opponent.

Well ... after the huge disappointment of the new James Bond film (which should go in the trash bin along with Rocky 5), perhaps this movie will surprise in the other direction. I'll go and see it later this week.

You have to go see Rocky Balboa! It is so good much better than Crapino Royale the Bond movie that made no sense. Rocky Balboa is a poignant movie about growing old with grace. There are some moments Rocky meets a Marie and Spider Ricco and when you see them you say "Hey I remember them!" even if you didnt see Rocky part I for years. It brings back all the memories and a whole lifetime of growing up and watching movies.

The fight isn't the important part of the movie. The movie is about something else. The fight is good anyway because it is filmed like a real HBO pay per view fight. Same cameras and all. When Rocky gets knocked over he really does get knocked over! All the punches are like a real fight not like a movie fight. Not going to tell you the ending. I will tell you the ending makes your heart feel big and proud for Rocky.

Yes ... it was.

I did go to see it (as mentioned above). It was far better than I expected. As others have mentioned, the fight is a very very minor part of the movie. By the time you get to the fight you don't care who wins. (Of course you'll be rooting for Sly). The one major difference with this movie in so far as the fight goes is that the other boxer isn't the bad-guy. He's not a villain. He's just as confused about life as Rocky is at the start of the movie. Each boxer has demons that they must battle. The fight is really about these boxers challenging themselves and learning what they are made of rather than battling each other. During the film the two fighters follow separate paths to the boxing ring. By the end of the fight I believe both are different (and better) men.
