It's a dumb quiz...because if you get a single one wrong, you actually get two wrong (unless you goofed and typed the same number twice). So unless you get 12/12, there's no way you can get 11/12. You can get 10/12 and anything below. I got 9/12 because of I thought Publisher was Front Page, thought Front Page was Info Path, and thought Info Path was Publisher. A little triangle action going on.
Still...a dumb quiz. Since a single mistakes can cost you 2 points and, in certain situations, 3. Two mistakes will cost you 4 points.
You can only have a mistake cost you 1 point if you goof and type the same number twice. Once a choice has been used it should be eliminated. Of course, this still doesn't solve the 1 mistake 2 points problem. Then again, it's not really a 'problem' but whatever.

Well, it's just for fun. But I put one number in two places on purpose, because I wasn't sure at all.

8 out of 12 here and it's been a while since I last used Office. There was probably a good amount of luck involved here as I've never heard of Groove, Projects or Infopath and the majority of the icons make no sense whatsoever.

Its not like we're taking a test on becoming a citizen, its a fun little quiz. Take it for it was intended for - fun. No need to over-analyze it

10/12. Got Info Path and Front Page the wrong way around. Not seen any Windows Office icons since 2000.

Why the hell is Front Page a graph?

10 out of 12, same error as Mithras. I've used Project, but Groove is new to me.

Saw that I was only going to be getting Word, Excel, and Onenote for sure, so I bailed.

10/12. I switched Front Page and Groove, which were the two I held until the end.

8/12.
The problem isn't so much the icons, but rather the names. I haven't heard of a lot of them (Groove, for instance), and several of the ones I have heard of I don't know what they do (InfoPath).
EDIT: Nevermind, that's totally wrong. Everyone seems to be missing FrontPage, and I can see why. Why the hell would you use an arrow to indicate a front page?

10/12 - Got Front Page and Project wrong. How are web pages represented by a zig zag line that looks like it would represent stock?

Missed Visio, Info Path, and Front Page. Pretty crappy for someone taking the test from the Redmond campus, huh?

100% I am so proud. I've never heard of some of these, much less seen the icons. I got pretty lucky.

I saw only 10 icons to identify--There was no icon for Access or Front Page. But I got 10/10 and I have never used Office 2007.
Most of them made sense if you thought about it. Although Groove was a little tricky until I realized that the icon was showing two documents incising a groove on a flat disk. I am assuming Groove is some sort of disc-burning application, but knowing MS it could be something else altogether.

Language theorist George Lakoff has an excellent book on the nature and use of metaphors in language, particularly American English language. His book is called "Metaphors We Live By".

7/10.
I was quite surprised I got PowerPoint wrong—they’ve changed that logo beyond all recognition.
I’m also thinking it might be easier to guess what some of the icons are if you actually have some sort of idea what it is the apps behind the names (that are often every bit as confusing as the icons) do.

Whenever you think Apple has such great, intuitive icons, just remember the kid with the sex toy and the robot with the pipe. And Clarus.

Yeah, well, you didn't have Front Page.

Never even heard of "Groove" or "Info Path," so I kinda cheated and looked them up. While I still don't know what these programs do, at least I have an idea that they exist. Why I need that information...
