I'll always have a huge soft spot for Hop on Pop, since that was my very first Seuss book when I was a kid just learning to read. It was big deal to figure-out "constantinople and timbuktu".
After that, I guess I'm a Cat in the Hat kid, and will forever damn to hell Mike Myers and everyone involved in the horror that was the movie.

On Beyond Zebra and Scrambled Eggs Super took me from passively reading to engaging my imagination and reading voraciously. Absolutely superb imagination fodder in those two.
Later, I came to feel quite strongly about The Lorax and The Sneeches, noticing the social depth of these kid-friendly stories.
And I can't leave out Horton Hears a Who! More good social commentary in a wonderfully kid-centric story.

Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are. I got it when I was seven. When I read it to the kids today, I nod to myself and say, yep, I'm glad I don't work on the Booglebung Bridge, that's for sure. And at least I'm not a Hawtch-hawtcher! It's the only one I can quote.
"It's a troublesome world, all the people who're in it, are troubled by troubles almost every minute."

I like the smoke the crack one:
There's crack on the back of old grandpa jack.
"Take the crack from my back," old grandpa jack said,
"put it in the pipe, and stick it in my head."
So I took the crack from the back of old grandpa jack,
put it in his mouth, and took out my Zippo.
It was out of lighter fluid, but I quickly had it refilled -
thanks to a passing seussian hippo.
Grandpa jack took a puff, exhaled a huff,
then laid down on the seussian goose's downy fluff.
"Ah," said grandpa jack, "I'm ****ing wasted."

When I was in elementary school, I stumbled upon my Dad's copy of Dr. Suess Goes to War, It wasn't until about 10 years later that I rediscovered it and realized what all those familiar Dr. Suess sketches were actually saying. Both politically and racially charged I'd say this book defines the American prewar era of the 1940's.
Highly recommended.

My mother use to read Green Eggs and Ham to me every single night. But when I first learned how to read, I had so much fun reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish!
This post made me very happy ^_^
