David Letterman Rips Justin Bieber for Ignorant Remark | TMZ.com
Justin Bieber is 18 years old ... and believes Michelangelo painted the "Sixteenth Chapel"

Edit: And in a move of self-immolating brilliance, I have posted this in the wrong forum.

Let's not forget the time he didn't know what German meant.. "we don't use that word in America" Well it seems to be a widespread problem with kids these days.. some of my friends can't name the 4 beatles or say who the Che is.. as for the "sixteenth" chapel, I think it it's more of a problem with pronunciation than culture. Half of the times I see "cut to the chase" written somewhere, it's written as "cut through the cheese".

Beside, what's this obession with Michael Jackson? I stumbled upon a few youtube clip of him and I swear there's a reference in every one of them! At some point it's not an hommage anymore.. The glove, the moves, the ouftit... it's a bit insulting!

This isn't nearly as good as his position rape happens for a reason:

“I really don’t believe in abortion,” Bieber says. “It’s like killing a baby?” How about in cases of rape? “Um. Well, I think that's really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don't know how that would be a reason. I guess I haven't been in that position, so I wouldn't be able to judge that.”

He actually said he wasn't going for the "Sixteen Chapel look", at the end of the sentence, he just had a pause in there while getting grilled.

Not sure why anyone would expect otherwise. Kids today really do only live in the moment in a way that is quite disturbing. Because everything comes served up instantly though the screen and mashed up via YouTube and FaceBook, they have zero, and I mean literally zero, interest in anything old. It's like they live in a cultural vacuum.

Given how past culture informs and moulds present and how important knowledge of the past is to shape the future I'm actually quite scared. Despite my and my wires best efforts as parents my kids (13 and 15) have so, so little knowledge of the world as it used to be even a decade ago. While they vaguely realise that we didn't have an internet when we were growing up they have no interest in thinking about how life may have been before.

By the time they grow up a whole generation will have been educated to only care about the present. Obviously this will work well for those in power since the voters won't even care about past and future issues.
This space for Hire! Reasonable rates. Reach an audience of literally dozens!

I'm just waiting for the TMZ headlines 10 years from now that show Bieber strung out on drugs and overweight on a front lawn in LA getting arrested for domestic violence. Sources close to the former singer say he's depressed over slipping out of the limelight over the years and has been self-medicating.

It's a freight-train coming your way Bieber, that's why older people laugh at kids... because we know how the story ends.
