Hey, guys -

I'm in the market for an external HD, and I ran across SimpleTech Pro 1TB at Best Buy. I've been eyeing the G-Drives and LaCie drives at the Apple store, but this was significantly cheaper. I bought it, but now I'm reconsidering. Are SimpleTech Pro drives reliable? Thanks!

I have the 1TB "drive in style" by SimpleTech. I use it as my time machine; absolutely no problems at all in the 3-4 months that I've had it. It even survived a nasty fall off my desk.

edit:
I was thinking about this again. There is ONE thing that bugs me about the hard drive, but it happens so rarely that I forgot about it. Sometimes I have to double start it due to my computer not seeing it.

I wouldn't save money on my back-up system.

If you want to save without sacrificing quality, there are several threads about buying an internal hard drive and an external enclosure. But the savings are slim, if you buy a good enclosure.

I bought a 500Mb g-tech drive as it was recommended to me by my Mac technician. It's not only good looking, but also very reliable.
