I am not one to do business with Best Buy often (not a fan of their business practices), but it just so happens that Snow Leopard is being released on my birthday - and I've received a shiny new Best Buy gift card. It just so happens Best Buy is lowering the price by $5 for the single-user Snow Leopard:

The family pack also appears to be lowered by $6:

That said, store pickup is not yet available; I'm hoping it'll be available tomorrow for store pickup, because if it isn't, I'm going straight to the Apple Store - even though I can't use my BB gift card there.

Happy Birthday!

It's not even on the BestBuy Canada website yet.

Thanks!

Best Buy Canada still appears to be selling OS X 10.5.1 discs even though the latest retail disc is 10.5.6... I wouldn't put too much faith in them!

Looks like Amazon is also matching this deal. The upside with Best Buy I guess is you get it today, in the morning rather than waiting for UPS.

I hope everyone who pre-ordered at Amazon can get a refund for the difference.

According to the Best Buy website, it's backordered for 1-2 weeks.

It wouldn't surprise me that BB and other retailers are offering this at a discount....but available a week or two AFTER today's official release. Apple knows too many of the faithful won't wait that long.

Having said that, I too am interested to know if anyone finds it today on store shelves for the reduced price.

So they don't have the Best buy after all
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Yonkers can have better TV reception.

I found it at a BB near my house in Atlanta and had no troubles buying online and picking it up on the way home.

well my experience is as below.
checked the best buy site, the site said it was in stock shortly after 10am which is when the store opens.
i went to the store, and for the first time ever, there was a special person in the apple section.
i guess they were there to help with snow leopard which oddly enough was not installed on the display units.
SL was on the shelf but was ringing up for the full price
best buy did match their own site though and with my coupons from previous purchases i only paid $10
i am still not sure how or why so many companies offer apples own stuff cheaper than they do.

The Apple section in my local BB had been dismantled and removed. I asked someone about it and he said it wasn't an approved section, that someone had found out about it (Apple??) and made them take it down.

I had the same experience today. Went to Best Buy today and was told that because I didn't order online for store pickup, I was basically SOL.

I got mine through bestbuy.com yesterday and drove three miles to BB instead of thirty miles to Apple Store - $25.00 plus tax. If you do it too, check the availability of your local store at bestbuy.com .

^^Same here. In store pickup for $25 for tax. No problems. Now I'm waiting to see if SL can be installed without my fan running overtime.

SL was on the shelves of the Best Buy I visited in Katy TX. Not the family pack, just the single user version. And they didn't have a lot of copies on hand, either. I wound up going to my local Apple Store back in San Antonio. I spent more time finding a worker to ring up my sale than finding the exact package I needed.
