Can anyone recommend a scanner in the $200 range that I can use with an old power mac 5300/100 as well as an imac? I have been told that the umax 2200 or the umax mx6 will work with an additional cable needed for each. Will be using the scanner with my students and presently we are using the old mac but are hoping to get an imac next year. Any help would be appreciated!

I have heard that the best scanners are from Microtek and Epson because what they scan looks almost identical to the original. I am personally in favor or Microtek scanner so there is one called ScanMaker V6 USL. It costs $150-160 or so and you can get more info at http://www.microtekusa.com/smv6uslpr.html

UMAX's Astra 2200 has USB and SCSI ports on it. You can hook it up to both the 5300 and iMac simultaneously.
