Yesterday, at about 4:23 PM CDT, we had the vernal equinox, and slipped out of winter and into spring.

Locally, the temperatures were more winter-like for the last week and a half (lows in the upper 30s to low 40s and highs barely into the 60s), but last night the low was in the upper 50s and our high is expected to be in the mid-70s. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be in the low 80s, which is closer to later spring temperatures, but I’ll take it.

This is not a “boy is the weather odd” statement, just noting that somehow the weather in South and Central Texas noticed the date and accommodated us. A little. For now.

How’s everybody else’s brand new spring?

Things have leveled out, but on Saturday it was in the teens and we had snow.

I went snowboarding Saturday and Sunday and we had 10 fresh cm of powder, but this week is entirely above zero and the slopes won’t last. Bummer. Got out more times this year than I had in 13 years!

Same here. It’s hovering around 50 today.
