Have you tried looking in the NIB files to see if they're actual buttons or images? If they're proper buttons you should be able to change them in Interface Builder (using the Inspector palette).

I've looked in the Resources folder (after Showing Package Contents), and it had the images, but what I want to do is have the buttons "imbedded" into the toolbar, like Jaguar's Finder toolbar.

• Right click on the app
• Click "Show Package Contents"
• Go to Resources/English.lproj
• Open GeneralWindowDocument.nib in Interface Builder (you'll need Xcode, it's a free download from Apple)
• Select the four buttons on the top left of the window, in Interface Builder
• Press Shift+Command+I to show the Inspector
• On the bottom right of the Inspector will be the checked option "Bordered", uncheck it
• Save the NIB and reopen Bits on Wheels
