How fragile is the hinge on the 15 inch powerbook. Is their anthing you have to do extra to assure that it doesnt break. In other words how careful do you have to be.

Thats pretty cool but this tells me that the hinge can crack like a piece of glass.

I had a rev A Tibook 400Mhz for nearly two years. No problems whatsoever with the hinge. May not be as sturdy as the new Albooks, but still well-constructed.

I have a 1Ghz Superdrive TiBook, never even thought about it. No issues, and it gets a lot of use/traveling/open and closing.

I've taken my Ti/400 apart a few times, and the hinges seem to be fine. Not an issue unless you really try to break them

Mine snapped.
Little sucker costs $600 to replace too. We still haven't figured out what did it(I discovered that it was busted after coming back to my hotel, but I would assume that it did not go through to much trauma.

Just be careful opening the unit. If you jerk the screen upwards when you open the list, you'll put a lot of stress on the hinge.

Mine snapped after 4 months. Apple replaced it. I bought the tiglide kit, and it improved things. However, it keeps getting tighter and needs adjjusting every few weeks. Always seems to be a bit tight for comfort and this worries me.
Other than that, no problems and stands up to a lot of travel.
Cheers,
J.
