I have one that my wife absolutely hates. It's a sultry female voice purring, "Master, I have mail for you."

Drop/Copy the WAV into ~home/Library/Sounds

It should then show up in the drop down menu in mail preferences.

I'm not at home to upload, but it's just the voice of Special Ed 'I've got mail, yay!'.

There are a bunch at this site (click Email Notifications link). I use the one of Worf from TNG saying "Captain, incoming message."

I used to have one of the Bond girls saying "Ohhh James!"

I use the submarine sound, but I may have to try some of these other ones out. Now can I have different sounds for my different accounts, because that would be perfect. Anyway, I can't really test these sounds out in class so it looks like I have to wait a few hours.

mail motherf**ker! (not worksafe)
^ option click to download. put into ~/Library/Sounds. open mail, and it will be at the bottom of your list.

i don't have a sound, i use rule that bounces the dock icon, and an app called mail.appetizer that displays a transparent window with the first bit of the email in it.

I don't suppose you want to share the Applescript with us. All I have in return since I don't really know AS well is a script that automatically sends a prewritten instant message when I hit a number on my remote control.

mdc: thanks for the link, looks like a neat app.
