Clich Software Releases Stratges 1.0

LONDON, UK -- 14 October, 2003 -- Clich Software today released Stratges, an homage to the classic Stratego.

'Stratge' is a French word meaning a person skilled in the art of war planning. As a player in Stratges you must display the competency of a general in making swift decisions, determining the life or death of your army. You must control your many soldiers, each with their own skills, from scouts to spies, in a desperate attempt to capture your foe's flag before he captures yours.

Stratges has an aqualicious interface designed by TheBettsBro Inc, and supports opponent discovery via Rendezvous, StratTrack, Clich Software's hosted game servers, and iChat.

Pricing & Availability

Stratges is available for immediate download from http://www.clichesw.com/products/strateges/, and requires Mac OS X v10.2 Jaguar. It will run in unlicensed mode until a serial number is purchased for $9.95 from our online store.
I would like to thank every MacNNer that gave me suggestions:

Luke Sands (sandsl)
Adam Betts
MaxPowers
Guy Icognito
Phil Ryu
And the others!

I hope you like my new "baby"

Looks like a great little game, very polished. Unfortunatly I don't know anyone with a mac, thus i'd have no one to play with. Might there be any AI coming in future revisions?

A note of caution to you -- Milton Bradley -- nee Hasbro -- would be fully within their rights to sue your pants off for this game.

It doesn't matter, it really doesn't -- you should run it by an IP lawyer, they will tell you the same thing. You're even claiming it is a Stratego clone, which only makes their case that much easier to prove.

For the clueless reading this thread, would someone kindly explain what ISF rules are?

This is a TOTAL rip off of iSeek. I bet iSeek was being developed first, too.

Their rules, but not the look and feel of the game -- Milton Bradley (Hasbro) owns that, and I doubt they'd be pleased with what you've done here.

Huh? I see iSeek is a piece of software Ambrosia is developing.... What's that have to do with this game? What joke am I missing, or feel I am missing anyway?

Edit: Ah, never mind. I saw the other thread. Hmm. No comment.

Congrats on the game release, by the way. A friend and I are releasing a Tetris clone sometime in the coming monthsmuch cooler than all those current Tetris clones for OS X already. Nice work on the icons, Adam.

Glad to hear that you like it

Most of it was done in Photoshop. Some of the pieces such as bridges, bandwagon, etc was done in a 3D app.

Winter theme of the map will be in upcoming version update.

I don't think it's too clever of the developer to actually include the Milton Bradley maps though - unless of course he has perimission to do so ?

The apps icon is stunning, especially when viewed nice and big on you web site. The green ground texture is just so... plastic.

Out of interest, what 3D app do you use?

Is this still available somewhere? All the links that I find for it are broken or do not exist.

Looks like someone didn't renew their domain.

Those cows won't know what hit 'em. They won't know what hit them even after it hits them, because they're cows.

Although it's no longer any of my business, I just thought I'd add that the DNS records have now been fixed and should start working within the next day.

Why did you break them anyway in the first place?

It doesn't look like the DNS is down it looks like everything was pulled from the net.

I added their nameserver as mine and tried resolving the clichesw.com and doobie.plus.com and both work just fine (I think they work without piggybacking onto their DNS). However, the problem is 404's, not DNS.

I am on the lookout for download sites that store locally.

I just want to see this game.

Ambush probably won't like this, and it has no license agreement, but for your sake (and maybe he will get a sale from this so it won't matter anyway) I hosted the file at:

http://www.macdevzone.com/justin/Strateges.zip

It is 1.5 MB, the app only. Have fun.

Yeah it worked for me too but maybe his DNS servers were not updated yet, so he was still getting the GoDaddy front page.
