For those of you who don't know, there is a new Batman flick on the horizon, 'Batman Begins'.
Anyways, they just posted pictures of the new Batmobile on the main page of the movie's website, here.
Now, is it just me, or are they trying to make it a little too... 'l33t'?

The Batmobile in Batman and Batman Returns are truly my favourite. As well as Michael Keaton.

None of you have, obviously, read The Dark Knight Returns, by Frank Miller. It's a tank. That's his batmobile design, and it's f**king awesome.

I read it. I still have it.
I still hate the thing. Doesn't work in a MOVIE.

Good point, some things look better in artistic stylized form and not real life...

They were filming part of it here on Iceland so I guess some of it will be "out in the nature"(must get some sleep so I remember the correct terms in english). That could explain how it looks, but I must say that some of our own jeeps are cooler than that abomination.

Rather odd. They are trying to make this movie very real life so that looks like something someone could make today.

This is nothing like Dark Knight Returns, which would have been a great batmobile for a movie. Of course that thing was more like a tank and a half, complete with Dr. McCoy's sickbay table and everything. Expensive for a movie production, although with enough creative cutting they may have been able to pull it off.
My question is just exactly how hard would it be to shoot the tires out from under that thing? Look like nice, big inflatable targets to me.

I'm gonna say that, yes, I've looked more closely and the new batmobile isn't quite so tank-like as the Miller one. *sigh*

where is the rest of the movie's website? The only thing there are these pix and a bat button, which just takes you to a larger batbutton.

They really need to make The Dark Knight Returns into a movie. Damn that would be awesome.
elder Batman - Russell Crow (a little makeup and he'd be set, like they did in "The Insider")
Superman - Any "boyscout" looking, 30-something, guy will do
Robin - Kirsten Dunst
Green Arrow - Viggo Mortensen
the Mutant Leader - Any WWE wrestler (ooh, I know, Big Poppa Pump http://www.bigpoppapump.com/ )
If I had a spare $150M I'd do it in a heartbeat. Man, would it make money!

Well give it a break guys - I guess the idea is that it's supposed to look crap, as this is meant to be the early version of the batmobile.

The Batgear in the Schumacher films was so out-of-control fruity that pretty much anything is an improvement. I never liked the penile armored Batmobile in the films.
This is Batman Begins, folks. The man didn't have his look down yet; his gear should look a little slapped-together.

I've hated every batman movie so far... BIG time. They've all been sooooo stupid. If this signals a new direction for the movies I'm all for it too. I think that vehicle looks really cool! Does anyone know anything else about the movie yet? I still think Adam West was the best Batman ever!

Adam West and co. nearly ruined the Batman franchise. That being said, I think his Batmobile has been the best design yet (on film).
I second the making of The Dark Knight by Frank Miller (meanwhile how bad was DK2?). Make the movie PG-13 or R and show folks what Batman is really like.
I think the 'Batmobile' on the site will probably be a specialty vehicle, just like the Batmobile Tank in Dark Knight was created for riot control.
The street version of Batmobile should be version of this baby:
