Does anyone know if there are any new dark themes? I have JetBlack, Dark Forces, 1947, Gloomy Gravitation, Dark Rising. I dig the darker themes which bring with theme such a relief from those boring bright themes that flood the market. Any and all guidance is greatly appreciated. By the way, I am currently working on creating a super dark theme which also incorporates neon like color. Yeah baby !!!

You missed out 3 of the best in my opinion:
  • NEOS by Daisuke Yamashita
  • Shinobi by Takashi Izawa
  • Titanium 8 by Mr. Tew
They are 3 of the most complete and consistent dark themes available, and NEOS is my own personal favourite theme of all time. Check out the Shinobi iTunes skin too, it is AWESOME.

Remember too that there are many more in the works:

Cathode should be released some time soon, and Calabi is still being worked on. And of course, the ultimate dark theme Omega, if we ever do get to see it.

Hope this helps.

Then trust me, you'll soon understand why there haven't been very many dark themes.

I prefer dark themes, find it easier on the eye and it helps me concentrate on my work as it's often lighter than the background...

Then it's obvious that you don't do any work with Adobe apps.

Dark themes + Photoshop = a big mess

Like I've said before, I soooo wanted to use JetBlack

That's what the exclude list is for. The Adobe apps.

And this is neither ShapeShifter's nor the themers' fault, but rather Adobe's use of non-standard badly drawn graphics.

I totally agree with you siMac, I never blamed the themer or SS. I know all about the exclude list in SS, but having a super-bright Aqua-themed app punch you in the face when switching from a perfectly dark-themed Finder is too much for me. I can't stand to not have uniformity across the board. That's why I stick to lighter themes that can handle all the apps I use...

You're right, I suppose it depends how much you like dark themes whether you're willing to put up with that.

I heard a rumour that smeger was working on a 'compromise' with regards to the Adobe apps, but I don't know if it's true or not.

I didn't like the best of both worlds so I modded the theme into a light version, doing a dark version aswell just for good measure.

Don't forget Avenger and Soot. They're both pretty cool dark themes (Soot rocks!)...

It's already happened. It wasn't much of a deal, and didn't improve much.

Unless you're talking about a rumor that I'm not aware of.

Oh, ok then. Here's hoping that Adobe will get around to making a proper interface for the next Suite.
