Apparently, Chicago has a law on the books concerning how much you can sue another man for if he steals your wife. A man who's wife was stolen by his friend has actually sued his friend and won:
Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com
The final price of his wife? Around $4800.
Personally, I think that all parties involved are being jerk-ish. The wife was a jerk for leaving. The husband was a jerk for suing. And the friend is a jerk for being ok with the entire taking his friend's wife thing.

Once you wanted revolution, now you're the institution, how's it feel to be the man?

I never knew Chicago was still into wife stealing. Hmm.
Lemme see... $4800 a pop, if I can get 40 or 50 of 'em into the van, and make it to Michigan, I could get $5200 a head there... and make a cool 20K. Who's in with me?

$4800? That's not much money. I don't know anybody that would sell their wife for $4800.
Wait. nevermind.

i've seen this funny episode of Southpark in which a drunk Paris Hilton offers 200 million for someone's baby.. The joke is that anyone would have doubts with such an amount of money /

Never mind stealing, can you buy them? Sell them? Lease? How about "pre-owned"?
Upgrades, warranties, rent-to-own...
The mind reels!

What the hell. It was the woman's choice for leaving. Why should you be allowed to sue the man?

I knew someone who had a standing offer that he would give $10k to anyone who would marry his ex-wife. Of course, that was because once she got married, the terms of the divorce agreement changed, and he would be saving lots of money.
Nobody took him up on it. She was too loony for $10k to be enough compensation.
