Options -> "Open this page: http://www.google.com" instead of "Use the New Tab page"

Chrome->Preferences->General->Homepage->Open this page: http://www.google.com

You don't have to set Google as your home page though, since you can always simply type search terms into the address bar.

Maybe you should give up on Chrome. Google have some very strange attitudes about users in general. I would suggest you spend a maximum of thirty minutes on trying to work out how you can use Google Chrome. If you can’t work it out within that timeframe, well, screw them, it’s their loss.

There’s no reason to be such a condescending prat, you know. It’s not his fault, arsehole.

Then stop using it. It's a very rough beta and no where near being ready for the general public.

Did not know it was beta, I thought it was full fledged --
that said, it's a single annoying click to get the page. just was wondering....

You can type your google search right into the address bar within Chrome.

andy, interesting, who would have thought.
not as nice because address bar does not have the what you call feature where guesses the next few words you are going to type

Actually it does, just give it a moment when you type your search into the address bar, it will act like the normal google page and try and predict what you are typing.

For me the single bar in Chrome (for URLs and queries) is the cat's pyjamas. I love having a single k/b shortcut to get there and not needing to tab to the query entry field.

If Safari had that and its old progress bar (filling the URL entry field as the page loads) then I'd have my favourite things all in one place.

the prediction not as good. I had to type almost two full words for the two word search term I search a lot to become visible.
With normal google search field, just after two consonants it's in a drop down below.
