I don't know about that, he's a slippery devil and he stacked the courts in his favor.

There are so many legitimate things for which to take Bush to task, do we really need the mean-spirited conjecture?
I really loathe the man, but please.

I feel so dirty for having started this thread. It's a left wing circle jerk in here. Time to take a long, cleansing shower.

In my view that is legit. As another poster stated, this could and should have come months, if not years ago. They kept Rummy in so they could run on the terrpor fear associated with the artificially induced war in Iraq.
We've been had.

I would hardly call this statement from a moderate:

I guess the reason no one steers tie in the right direction is because liberals always like feeling smarter than the next guy and so to have someone(s) who doesn't have a firm grasp on the dynamics or facts allows the rest of you to feel you are one step over him or them.
You guys.

No, I think only gays like feeling smarter than the next guy.
Sorry, but I have no idea why you wrote "liberals" there when any reasonable person would put "everybody." (IMHO)

I disagree. I don't know for sure about George Bush -- actions speak louder than words and his and Rumsfeld's have been anti-American and pro-Al Qaeda -- but don't see any reason for painting all Republicans with the same brush.

See? That's where your complete liberal orientation leads you to believe that everyone 'thinks' and behaves as liberals do.
Liberals naturally and unfailingly try to tell everyone else what to do or what's best for them.
And as for my original point re: your post...(seeing as how your fellows would rather you remain unenlightened on this score)...

Dork. had it right.

If the GOP had won then Rummy would have stayed.
But because the new House/Senate mix would conspire to oust Rummy anyway, if the President waited until he HAD to replace Rummy in 2007, the Dems would have been able to prevent GWB's getting the man he REALLY wanted, confirmed.
By acting now the President can nominate Gates as Rummy's replacement and have him confirmed BEFORE the new Democrats take office.

The thing you fail to understand is that conservatives UNDERSTAND the democratic process and we are more realistic, practical and logical than liberals.
We understand this is how a democracy works.
Take a good look and maybe you'll learn something.

Do you really believe that these sweeping generalizations are of any value in characterizing liberals or conservatives? I mean, honestly, you cannot be this deluded...can you?
These terms mean hardly anything anymore. Whenever you guys get going about "liberals" or "conservatives," I feel like I'm suddenly on that one Star Trek episode where the guy who was black on the right side and white on the left was at war with the guy who was black on the left and white on the right. It's absurd. I only hope you're some misguided teenager who will outgrow such ridiculous assertions.

BTW, this dem/lib "Sorry Everybody" photo from the 2004 election is so damn elitist and offensive (using liberal standards) to those in nations where the people are not so wealthy that they can waste food and use it as props for a frigging picture.
And yet the liberals think they are sooooo righteous.

These are the benefits of checks and balances. Incompetence like Rumsfeld's is unacceptable and can't be tolerated in such an environment.

Here you go again, derailing threads with your nonsense posts.
I just realized why I'm not a true "Anyone-but-Bush" partisan: I noted in the lame-duck thread that I think Bush may actually end up being a better President now that he's going to be forced to work with the other side to get stuff done. I'm at least holding out some hope that the new circumstances can turn things around, and we'll get the Uniter (not the Divider) that we were told we were getting in 2000....

I believe Congress has to approve of who Bush nominates for the position. Since the shift change won't be until the 1st of January, he can get his nominee approved while the Republicans control Congress.
