warrenties will never cover self inflicted damages..

They are fairly cheap, about 150 per side... but that WILL void your warrentee if you replace it.

It fell 6 feet and the screen didn't crack? You're lucky. Were you mountain climbing? Frugle is right -- the Apple warranty will not cover "accidental damage". If you are accident prone, you might want to consider safeware for future laptop purchases.

Yea i was at my office, and i was putting it up on a shelf out of way wher people were walking, and little did i know that there was space between the wall and the shelf about a foot of room. so it fell the full 6 feet and i was freaking out for 30 minutes while the maitnence workers had to take the whole shelf apart because it was a built in shelf. if i pay or get apple the parts will they replace it for me without voiding my warrenty?

If you pay Apple to repair it then your warranty will not be voided. However, that will be very expensive and this is the point where a of people would cut their losses, sell it on ebay to a person who can repair it themselves, and just get a new one.

I'm afraid Apple won't allow you to bring in outside parts--they are required to use parts from their own stock. You could call Apple or take it to the genius bar to get an estimate. If the repair comes to more than half the cost of the machine, I would consider selling it on ebay and repurchasing--if you can do that.

Another option is to take it to a third party repair shop that is an Apple authorized repair center. A lot of those places will replace parts for far less then Apple would and they wouldn't void your warranty either. An example of one in the New York area is Tekserve.

iFixit - iBook & PowerBook Parts

Might have the parts (and a guide for disassembly etc), but you can probably kiss your warranty good bye unless, a) there is no actual damage visible inside the machine and b) you are able to repair it yourself without causing any other damage.

It would be worth voiding your warranty. It's going to cost ~1300 to have apple fix it (I've already heard estimates.)...

its only like 300 bucks for you to do it yourself.... and you still can break it 4 more times before you equal costs.
