i have a g4 800 iMac with a super drive...it is perfect...Except those two problems I face which are:
1)Very Slow booting (with jaguar only)

2)it disconnects slowly(from the internet using a modem),some times the disconnecting process never ends till I restart it!

Guys...What seems the problem are all the early g4 iMacs like that?...if there are any solutions please provide me with them...thanks
iNadir,,,

All G4 iMacs are not like this.

Could you have lost power and suffered disk corruption? Have you run a utility like Diskwarrior lately, or used the Utilities/Disk Utility/Disk First Aid to repair permissions and verify the disk?

You could also restart in single user mode and check the disk (which is what it's doing when it takes so long to start up)

Hold down s while booting.
at the prompt type
fsck -y
press return

Repeat until there are no modifications to the disk needed. Type exit.

The system should boot faster, unless things are really messed up and you'd need to reinstall the OS.

Can other users who use a modem chime in?

I have exactly same machine as yours and it takes my imac 5 min. to boot up. It sometimes takes longer if I boot up after my computer crashed. I am fine with that since I usually put my imac in sleep instead of shut down. It gets annoying a little bit tho.
