I went and saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tonight. Just before it started a message came up "No Audio or visual recordings of any kind…blah blah blah" I laughed and said aloud ya right. I recorded it with full sound and video and there is no way in hell the theatre nor the MPAA can prove it. What a bogus message. I wasn't the only one recording the movie.

According to the message prior to the movie, it stated I was not allowed, but technically I wasn't nor legally breaking the law.

Why would anyone even bother bragging about being inside a cinema which is playing a Harry Potter movie? I mean, aren't these films designed for eight year olds?

If you're a professional bootlegger, this makes sense. I know plenty of people buy Haji movies in Iraq on base and stuff because they're cheaper and it passes the time serving in the desert. But unless you're starting a business (an illegal one mind you) I have no idea why you would do this. It seems like quite a stupid thing to risk federal charges just for fun.

I wasn't doing anything illegal and I would love to be charged with it since it's 100% impossible to prove I recorded it.

You completely underestimate the government's power to track you on the internet. If you distribute this recording you've made, you are openly asking for trouble. Why don't you take a minute to contact some of the people who have been sued into oblivion and forced to concede defeat and pay the RIAA or MPAA thousands of dollars because they "weren't doing anything illegal" and it was "100% impossible to prove [they did it]".

Congratulations. You have a hand-held, crappy version of the new Potter movie. You DID, in fact, break the law, and no one here is impressed with your self-congratulatory thread.
Other people probably won't be as gentle with their posts.

Why is there any reason to be proud of this action? I just don't understand.

With a Neumann U87 into a Focusrite Red 1 into an AMS-Neve 88RS onto a Studer A827 Gold running BASF?

Unless you were being a pansy about it, of course.

I am being serious about this. If you read my posts carefully you should be able to figure out how I "recorded" the movie as per the warning stating. This isn't some childish thing.

Did you draw each frame individually and caption all dialog on free napkins?

Are you saying that by you personally watching the movie, you made a mental audio and visual recording in your head? Therefore you didn't break the law since there is no physical recording.

Bingo! It was just so funny they said of any kind which technically includes using your eyes and ears to record it to your brain.

Anyone seen this warning in other movies and know what exactly was written? It went by so fast I only caught the first line of it.

I thought you said you recorded it. You should look at having your recording device replaced with something that works.

I am making a point. I am recording it (even temporally) to my brain which is technically a recording device. It records things you do, eat, smell, etc as memories. Trust me if the RIAA/MPAA could they would make it illegal to store a song/movie/tv show as a memory in your brain.

I was making a point with that message they displayed prior to the movie beginning,
