Seeing as this is a mac forum I figure relatively few people, but over the years I've cared less about jumping on new releases, learned the value of waiting for kinks to get ironed out, and in this case, find the it kind of horrific to look at (Never mind usability issues that may pop-up or reduced performance on an older model).

What say you?

I love iOS 7.

Initially, battery life took a pretty big hit, but disabling location services for weather helped, and I assume the app updates that have been sweeping in will optimize those for battery life when multitasking.

iOS 7 looks like it was designed by Spencer Gifts in the 70's.

Seriously, what do you get out of it? An obnoxious-looking OS, and not much else. Oh, you can use Flashlight from Command Center now.

I've been testing iOS 7 for work and I'm NOT impressed. Not upgrading.

I will wait. I found the webmail update jarring enough.

Thanks.

Let me put it this way: this was the first time I installed an OS-anything before official launch date (well, since DP4 of OS X).

For every thing that was jarring initially, there are two things much improved.

Things I'm noticing every day, in a big way:

Audiobooks in music player show track titles rather than file names. This is huge for me.

I like the artist view with auto-generated images - nice in the car.

Siri is WAY improved.

Maps can now pronounce street names with umlauts.

Calendars are now freely scrolling in month view.

Tabs in Safari.

Pull from side to go back.

Individual sub-mailboxes shown at the top level in Mail.app, including sent, unread, and any IMAP folder. This is really big, too, as I'm constantly dealing with project folders.

Single-tap HDR switch in camera.

I like the new notification center a lot - upcoming calendar events, weather, etc. I've been wanting the calendar thing since it was introduced on Android.

APP AUTO-UPDATES!

The new Photos overview. Massive improvement.

And probably dozens more.

I don't mind the look. Some of the icons look pretty bad, but overall I think it's a move in the right direction.

I plan on updating today.

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

Same thing just happened to me. Rebooted the phone thinking it might help but no dice. Fail. You'd think that they'd be prepared for this by now.

Ya, it asks for a whopping 3.1GB of free space even though the download is only 752MB.

I would guess that extra space is redundancy incase it shits the bed during install.

You're right, sadly, it's not a surprise. I still expect better, though.

The download is verified, then extracted, and then installed.

Makes sense. I don't remember iOS 6 having the same space requirement, but it's likely that I just had the free space at the time so didn't get a warning.

The only thing I really have a problem with is having to use iTunes 11 for iOS7.

God I hate that shit.

It's more responsive, but fuuuuuuuuuuuck

I'm still madly in love with 11. The windows version, especially, is a million times more usable than previous versions.

All I know is I stayed on 9 forever because they screwed up how the artwork behaves. Had to upgrade for the damn iPhone finally.

Oddly enough, guess which icon was broken before this update?

iPad mini, done.
iPhone 4, not yet. May wait to see how it runs for others first.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Is there a good article somewhere that summarizes the key features in iOS 7. At the very least I'm curious.

Well, I've got the thing right here (so you don't have to).

First big feature: swipe from the bottom.

Swiping up from the bottom gives you easy access to basic functions. Airplane mode, wifi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, rotate lock, brightness, playback control, volume, AirDrop, AirPlay, flashlight, timer, calculator, and camera.

More to come...

Airport wifi limits me to 500MB per session, it will be about 30 hours before I'm home and can upgrade.

First gripe: The new folder view. I like multiple pages within a folder, but why can I only see 9 app icons per page? Needless swiping.

Also, not a fan of the animations when unlocking the phone and opening/closing folders. Looks slick at first but it does slow down the navigation experience.

In the "swipe-down" department, notifications now have three tabs.

The first is your calendar, which shows skeuomorphism has been abandoned for "natural language". Weather and tomorrow's schedule are sentences.

My other tabs are empty at the moment.

It's funny. I just displayed an iOS 6 screenshot on my iPhone, and it looked so…quaint.

Took a couple days, though.
