Its amazing how even suing someone for something so vague can make the secret product all the more sensational. But it works out for apple, call it more money spent in advertising, though they may actually get the money back in this case because they are suing someone!!

Where've you been? Here for one. I used it more because the default poll is 4 and I'm too lazy to change it.

i'm not so sure about the flashpod because not long ago Jobs referred to flash mp3 players as gifts everyone gets but no one uses. But maybe he's turned a leaf...maybe he should turn some more leaves.

I believe he would have been talking about the 64mb - 256mb players. Surely if Apple did bring out a FlashPod, it would be minimum 1GB.

Just like when he said that you couldn't have a CD/DVD drive installed vertically on a G4 iMac because it would slow the drive down. (look at the G5 iMac)
Also, I'm guessing he will pull a "flash based MP3 players, to hard to use, cheaply built bla bla bla...but we did it the right way" on this one.

And the phone thing Jobs himself was talking about at the Motorola thing. And who cares about speed bumps in the Xserve line? Apple wouldn't waste money suing over that.
It's the flash iPod. There were very specific details about that one out. It's gonna be really cool. I wish I could get one as a stocking stuffer. I don't see myself buying one of those. I need high capacity 'cause I use it as a hard drive almost as much as I do as a music player.

the first guy takes a photo of the girl, email it to his friend, who finally call him back over the phone, while they are all listening to music with their maxiwunderbar ipods. Is this that hard to get ?
(btw, I don't know where that ad comes from, nor if it is real, but if it's a fake, it's a great one)

Indeed. There is a lot "Apple" about that ad. Although if real it catches me completely off guard. I assume it's just a good fake 'cause I don't see anyone else talking about it. Unless that discussion came and went...

You actually bought the iWalk hoax? I still don't visit SpyMac because of that fiasco.

In light of Microsoft talking up WinFS, then everyone finding out it won't even be released this decade, who knows what other companies will announce. You can bet every penny that companies are paying very close attention to Macworld and Apple so they can gear up for the next knockoffs, copycats, and patent infringements.
You know Real, Microsoft, and Roxio are readying phone/music deals this very second. I bet within a month of Apple announcement, they'll all be running with "we are too!" crap with their music services.
Apple IS the trend setter and they need to keep their stuff secret until they're ready to announce it.

Pretty ashamed of it infact.
Despite something in my head screaming it was a fake, those videos were too darned cool.

Apparently, it's "Asteroid" .. that product floating around on rumor sites lately.
Totally forgot about it. It's that firewire thingy for garageband? I'm not a music on your mac, type guy so I dunno what it is / what it does.
Engadget: So it was that FireWire audio interface for GarageBand, codenamed Asteriod or Q97, that Apple got all litigious about late last week. They still havent identified the mystery person or persons who leaked details about this thing, but they have filed subpeonas against AppleInsider, PowerPage, and ThinkSecret in order to force them to cough up what they know about who it might be. Apple isnt actually suing any of these sites, but they are definitely turning up the heat in their hunt for the leakster, which from the sound of it, is someone within the company who didnt take their non-disclosure agreement seriously enough.

Good one!
I, for one, applaud Apple for these suits as if they didn't do anything about these leaks, there would be no reason for people to keep their NDA's. I am almost positive this will discourage any future product leaks from any "insiders", or at least significantly cut back on the number of them.
On one hand, I like the product leaks just becuase I like to know what new products Apple is coming out with. However, I am definetly willing to wait to see what products they come out with if it means that other companies will be able to outstage Apple and [try to] come out with better products. Apple has everything planned out to the T and if products get out before they should, it throws off everything.

I don't think that Asteroid would have been just a little thing like this if they were gona get all up in your face about it... my guess is it was never supposed to be released and they were just trying to find a leak, or they are releasing it as part of something bigger. Then again the reality distortion field hasn't kicked in yet, so perhaps I'll think it's awesome later.

Cuz it's an obvious fake (even if you don't consider the music). Well, maybe "fake" is a strong word. Perhaps "tribute" or something is more appropriate.
