My network at home is set up the way I want it. I have everything working well. I can connect my Mac to my pc with out any issues. I dont have any neighbors running wire-less, but I want to take the steps to lock up my network.

What I have is a white box running XP SP2 hard wired to the router, and my G-3 Lombard runnin X 10.3.6 with a third party wire-less card and a Asante router with there (asante's) wire-less card.

I have two options for setting up wep, 64 or 128 bit. When I turn on wep it asks me for a wep key. I created one using wep key maker ( of course I need one more digit ).

Now for the questions,

In sys pref's in my my wire-less config folder there is a box to check to use wep.

My choices are airport 40 bit
airport 128 bit
with hex key
convert text to hex key

Which choice do I need to use?

I am still messed up here.
I have figgured out if I choose 128 bit, it creates a hex key for me. If I enter this hex key in to my router, I can not connect. A friend of my told me about an app called WEP Key Maker. I have tried using that to make a key and enter it on my Mac but when I hit apply it changes it.

I must clairafy that I do NOT HAVE an airport card, I am using a third party card in the pc slot of my Lombard PB. As things stand now things are well and THE CARD IS WORKING fine.
