Anyone excited? Thoughts? Concerns?
Personally I loved the original GOW, loved as in can't play it anymore because my disc got snapped in half...
My only real concern is that the multiplayer system will see little improvement over the abortion that was GOW's multiplayer. If I wanted to play with a friend we would have to be in private chat, he would tell me what scenario he just created, then I would search for open games and pick the one that matched my friend's description. Only this would work half the time since there weren't that many scenarios anyways. Even Rainbow Six: Vegas ( the first one) had the ability to invite friends into a game lobby you just created, why GOW had such an awful system confuses me.
But I digress, I totally look forward to playing the campaign on all difficulties with a few of you XBox-owning NN jerks.

Alright, since I never picked up R6, here's your chance to talk me into this game.
Maybe this can be the next great Macnn clan game.

Have you ever played the original?
If not I still think that you'd really like it. The third-person perspective is sweet, the visuals are amazing, cutting people in half with your chainsaw/machine gun never gets old, and the cover system is really slick.
The hardest difficulty level is near-impossible to beat by yourself but becomes very doable with a human friend helping you.

extremely excited for GOW2, the first one is insanely epic and hardcore, its definitely a game i've come back too a few times (beat on multiple difficulties). Hopefully cliffy b can take some ideas from Halo for the multiplayer and we could have a game of the year contender.
Looking forward to getting some NN' Gears action.

Hellz yeah!
Hopefully if my convincing worked on Dakar he'll be joining us too...so I can cut him half and teabag each piece of his corpse.

If I do buy it, it'll be primarily for multi, so it's gonna need some good reviews.

As long as the ability to jump 100 feet in the air is not the standard for defense (as in Halo3) I might just get it.

one feature i'm pretty excited about is chainsaw duels
the chainsaw kill in GOW was one of the most satisfying kills in any video game i've ever played.
on a side note:
i cannot wait to torque bow dakar in the face (its the sticky grenade of GOW)

GOW was ok. Too short, too easy and a **** ending.
The reload functionality made it wicked though.

Most definitely, I laughed a lot when I first played the game because of the ridiculousness that is the chainsaw kill.

I feel rejected by Laminar who still has yet to add me as a Live friend.
Also, Dakar, the game is really fun co-op, which I guess can be considered multiplayer... In fact, most of the time I played the original GOW was with friends co-op.
Of course I was the first one in the group to cave in to my materialistic nature and buy a 360 with GOW, so it was understandably popular.

He hasn't added me either.
I'm actually more interested co-op at this point.
I don't know, my buddy has GOW, I should borrow it. Maybe someone will join me?

Well, if your gonna grab it this week I'm sure I can arrange a play-date with you...the only problem is that I also have to borrow the game, as mentioned above, somebody cracked my disc in half.
Edit: It would be good to get back into the mechanics of the game, it's been quite some time now since I've played it.

Let me know when you get it.
Play dates are hard to come by anymore. Late Wednesday and Friday nights are about my best options anymore.
(At least until The Shield and Sunny in Phila are over)

I liked the game but there was something about the colour pallet that made it look a bit flat and 2D.

It was very 'desaturated,' that's for sure.
I've never seen the game on anything but 480p though....

i was awaiting the comment dakar, ha
actually i've played the game in 480 and 1080 and i must say the colors are bland but i think its supposed to be that way for atmospheric value, i also read that GOW2 will have more "lively" "outdoors" areas that could prove to bring some color.

I didn't even play or read up on the game and this sounds like a familiar complaint.

Boy this sucks... Another huge thread about a game that won't be out on the PC for quite some time.
Well when you guys all get Gears 2, I'll finally have GTA IV, and then I'll get Gears 2 in a year and you guys will be playing the next great game. Always behind the times....
Aren't 360's like $199 now? I should get one.
And for the record, I love GoW. One of my favorite games. Can NOT beat Insane though, no matter how hard I try. And (obviously, without cheating) those COG tags are impossible to find!

With all do respect Mac User, if you love video games, a console is the way to go. I mean, sure they're all overpriced, but we're Mac users, so that's not the best excuse to use.

Price was never a real issue. My PC is a bit more expensive than any console.
I just refused to accept that my PC wouldn't be good enough. Still do, really. Most games come out on the PC in due time, and they're usually (stressing usually) better, its just that the wait is unbearable. And I've been trying to persuade everyone for so long now that PC's are better, that I'd be almost a hypocrite to get one now, but screw that... I'm considering folding.

i would say that if there is a time to fold your hand its now, with some awesome deals on the 360 currently (some retailers have the 20GB pro still available at a discount) its really the time to get in on the action. Not only do we have some great exclusive titles coming but so many already out (that you could get used/ebay cheap) although most of these great titles come out on the PC unfortunately they cannot provide the experience that a console does to me, like with halo and gears the surround sound/huge HDTV experience are unmatched + xbox live and some friends, its unbeatable (not to mention some MacNN peeps). just my .02$

GoW2 isn't out until bloody November in France. For some reason they picked the 11th to start selling it. Why the fook would you start selling a very violent first-person-shooter on Armistice Day??
I've pre-ordered.

Thankfully my friend rediscovered GoW the day we mentioned doing co-op together in this thread.
He was not warm to the idea of letting me borrow it...

I'm not making much sense today am I?
My buddy (cheezydog from Halo 3) has GoW. My GoW is broken. Earlier in this thread you mentioned never playing it and that we should get some co-op in this week. That same day I notice cheezydog online and playing campaign in GoW, something he has not done in over a year. I ask cheezy if he is willing to part with his GoW so I can play it with my buddy (that's you Dakar) and he quickly says no.
So KB is your only hope for co-op at this point.

More of a cut-the-sarcasm-with-a-knife type of comment.
I was actually looking forward to playing with you because when I played with cheezy (at his house) I was laughably rusty.

That was only the case in ranked matches. You could invite anyone to player matches. You stay with your friends at the end of every match too. Player Matches > Ranked Matches.
Sure, it didn't log stats or give achievements, but the type of person playing in player matches were so much better then the tools that only play ranked.
I'm stoked for Gears 2. I loved the first one... especially the online multiplayer. I loved the 4 v 4, when you're dead you're dead setup.
