We started on wave 17 (not the first wave) on casual difficulty on (IMO) the easiest map for horde (security) and completed it at wave 50. Took us about 3hrs. give it take, i didn't check the exact start/end time.

I'm wasting valuable minutes of my life waiting for the bloody matchmaking to work !! Why is it so slow? I want to play this game on-line more but (and yes I timed it) waiting 15 mins for a game when you've only got a 2 hour gow2fest is really p*ssing me off.

Well stogie and I had a legendary run yesterday. The first 3 or 4 games, the opposing team were short 1 to 2 people. Then we played 1 or 2 games even, then we played down 1, and then we finished up with another 1 or 2 games. And we didn't lose a single one. At the end stogie (inexplicably) got a promotion, and has his second bar.

And I passed 1800 kills during that run. Those last two matches were really close. I can't believe we pulled out a win against the French dudes. That match was insane.

So, who is going to do co-op with me? I need achievements and to do it at a higher difficulty.
Edit: And try to find more collectibles (Found 21 on my own)

I'll co-op with you on the more difficult levels. And by difficult levels, do you mean Hardcore or Insane?

I think you learned from Gears 1 that my abilities will sometimes hit the wall hard. (Though I wouldn't mind revisiting that again)
To answer your question, Hardcore.
We can go at it at different difficulties, though, which is nice.
(Part of me wonders, would it be easier to get through the game on Insane if one person played on casual and took point? AFter all, you'd only really need to beat the game on Insane whenever your paths split up)

Interesting... this might be my best chance at beating the game on Insane. We should try out the insane/hardcore combo on the first level. If Insane is too difficult, I will change my setting back to hardcore.

I'm not sure that's completely wise. It did take till Act 4 before I died, but I suspect I will need all the help I can get at Hardcore. You'd essentially be on your own.

The ****ing shotgun should come with an instruction manual, if not a training level solely dedicated to learning how to use it.
And matchmaking still sucks.

One post in 4 days, and by the resident Gaming Lounge post whore.
What idiot thought this thread might rival GTA IVs?
Edit: Slightly on-topic, but can we all agree that everyone was underwhelmed by the multiplayer. And somehow I doubt it can only be blamed on matchmaking issues.

Actually, I have two more achievements than you. Unless you were talking achievement points.
(So when are we doing co-op? Tonight? Tomorrow Night? When I stop being a prick and hell freezes over?)

Ok. To be fair there's a chance some peeps are coming from out of town that I might have to go meet at the bar, but considering you're 3 hours behind me, this shouldn't be too big of an issue.

I want to schedule a time to play horde mode on normal setting... from level 1 all the way to 50. Should take about 3 hours. Anyone down this weekend? Preferably with a party of 5.

Just had what must have been a 40 minute game of Warzone. The opposing team went up 4-0, then we won two straight, the three stalemates in a row, and then we won three straight to beat them, 5-4.
Who was the worst player? You bet your sweet ass it was me.

I played some GOW1 multiplayer last night, and I was reminded of why I loved that game so much. Got in a game right away (surprisingly, still a lot of GOW1 players).
I guess my biggest complaints about GOW2 multiplayer is the matchmaking, followed by the change in the shotgun, and lastly the nigh unstoppable chainsaw. I did have a blast in the campaign, though
BTW "hardcore" isn't too bad. I did die a few times, but I beat it mostly by myself. If you co-op with competent players, it should be much easier.

Well, big weekend for matchmaking on the NN. Concluded, I might add with a hilarious run with Ort where a dude chewed me out for being "the worst kind of player".
In other news, what has two bars, two thumbs, and too much free time? > This guy <

I wouldn't mind pointers either. I'm guessing my biggest mistake is aiming for the body. I caught a guy full in the body yesterday with the shotty, and my reward was being blown to bits by him a moment later. Should you always aim high with the shotgun (Try to blow their head off)?

The power of the shotty in 2 is MUCH lower than the 1st one. It's also very dangerous to stay zoomed in with it while moving in for the kill, as you'll get chainsawed before you get close enough to do damage.
The new technique is to "dance" around, firing more from the hip.

Oh, okay.
Funny, I've been commenting that if you're surgical with the shotty, you can still run the game.

That is what I do, the problem is I can't figure how I'm supposed to be aiming. Fire when they're directly in front of my character? When they're directly to the right? Somewhere inbetween? My results have been so inconsistent its hard to tell.

I must say that is probably the only notable gripe I have with the GoW1 system. But at least in my experience it was such an extremely rare thing that it never got to the point of bothering me.
