I'm attempting to locate optimized BOINC clients for my computers, but there is just not a central location with information regarding optimized clients. I need some help.

If I list my computers and projects I'm running could someone point me in the right direction?

Current projects I have running on all 3 computers are Rosetta, Einstein and SETI.

Computer Specs:

Mac Mini G4 1.42GHz
Pentium 4 (Hyper-Threading) 2.80 GHz
AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 2.1GHz

Here is the URL for the Mac Version of BOINC. I'd suggest the Superbench versions; I know it works well with Einstein and Seti, but don't know about the other.

I believe those CPU benchmarks are HIGHLY inflated.

And what's with the utterly ABSURD average upload rate? (2.31109375E+264 KB/sec)

-29 results a day? Weak results I think.

Mind you I'm running Seti and not folding but almost 2900 RAC?

-No way is that chip that powerful as claimed.
-I wonder what optimized client he's running.

-I have an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ machine overclocked 2.2 ghz and it's not
anywhere near that level of floating point or integer speed.

-I'd love to get specs like that from that box but we're talking integer and
floating point in the single thousands digits (I'd check but seti is having
their usual wednesday afternoon maintenance).

-The highest FP and integer speed I get is on my G5 DP 2.5, period of all
the machines in my farm and even then they don't get that high. I think
FP in the 6000 range and integer in the 23000 range.

If you look into the trux calibrating client, you can find that it will claim normal numbers (not over inflated, unfair) for the non optimised clients like predictor and such, but will "calibrate" for optimised clients, such as seti, and get you to claiming closer to the "optimum" 32.32 claimed credit.

Ok, I'm starting to understand this stuff. However, why would I run an optimized BOINC app to alter my benchmarks? Why not just used optimized core apps for the projects? What is the benefit of getting a better benchmark?

when you use an optimized client like the awesome one frem Team MacNN, you are spending less time per work unit, resulting in less claimed credit. So, if you use the default boinc app, you will only claim a fraction of what the "expected" outcome whould be with the default (seti) client.

Also, the optimized client may be so fast that your machine constantly runs out of work. The amount of work requested is tied to the benchmarks, so a BOINC build that gives higher benchmarks will request more work.

Note: If you use your computer for other heavy tasks and seem to be getting swamped with work units that don't complete in time, try switching to a non-Superbench version. You may be requesting more work than your system can complete within the time limit.

Hmmm, I'm not sure why it's doing that!

None of the machines I have it running on have ever started the calibration over.

If I find something I'll let you know!

Try checking the drive with Disk Utility. Verify the drive, then verify permissions. BOINC may recalibrate if if can't open the existing file.

I think I figured out why it started over again:
I was running the BOINC Manager when I postet the results above. After the restart BOINC Menubar started automatically and I also started BOINC Manager manually. That was the mistake I think, because BOINC Menubar was using the file and the Manager couldn't use it. I removed BOINC Menubar and restarted the program several times since and it continues where it left off with calibrating my results.
It is working now.

Hi, I am new to this.

I am dividing time between SETI and Predictor and recently downloaded the SETI optimized client and the superbench CLI. I removed the original boinc from the resources folder and moved and renamed the superbench. SETI runs much faster, but Predictor won't begin processing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Predictor was running fine before I "optimized."

The Predictor comp error mentioned above seems to have resolved itself, but I just attached to Rosetta with the superbench and am getting comp errors there. Does the rosetta client run with the superbenchG4 (4.44)?

Or will this resolve itself as well?
