It would be neat if the navigation at the bottom of threads had a "back to topics" type of button between the previous thread | next thread links.

Well, one thing you can do in the mean time is what I do: scroll down and press the "go" button next to the Forum Jump menu. It defaults to the forum you're already in, so it takes you right back to the thread listing.
