Does anyone know of any insanely popular PS2 multiplayer games? I'm hoping to find something as crazily popular as Goldeneye64 or Halo.

None of the multiplayer games I have now are very popular among my friends. It's a good thing that I like them a lot, otherwise I'd consider them a waste of money.

NFL Street is supposed to be really fun for four people. I have an overflow of games right now but I'm thinking of grabbing this as soon as the price drops. I was watching a "making of" documentary for a little bit on cable about 2 wks ago and seems to be something as entertaining as NBA Street, perhaps even better.

Buy an Xbox. That's where the GOOD MP games are.

PS2 + Multiplayer = sh*t.

EDIT - Right, or a GC.

Although I've never played it, isn't Timesplitters 2 supposed to have good MP? Should be dirt cheap by now too.

NFL Street huh? I'll give that a shot. But I won't trying BUYING an Xbox or GameCube; too pricy considering I already own a PS2.

I suppose I should have mentioned that I already have Timesplitters 2. I like it alot, especially the challenges. But my friends don't like it for some reason. I also have The Bouncer and that had a bit more luck than Timesplitters. For a while we really enjoyed the 4 person games. It's great that the fighting arena is 2 dimensional, unlike other 1 dimensional ones where you can only move left and right.

Any other great games? Any other First Person Shooters?

SOCOM II is great if you're into third person shooters.

Kentuky, you need to change your sig to "PORKSCHOP SANDWICHES!!!"

Thanks for offering to review SOCOM II, but someday I'll rent it myself. I'll let you know what I/we think.

And what I meant by the other consoles being too priciy is that

Code:
$(GameCube + memory card + at least one more controller + GC-game) >> $PS2-game.
That's because I already own a PS2.

You really need to get an XBox, Live and Project Gotham Racing II. You friends can go f*ck themselves cos you'll be having a blast on-line.

TimeSplitters 2 Has good local Multiplayer - And was written by many of the team that wrote GoldenEye. (It even uses some of the same sounds.)

For Network multi-play I'd get SOCOM.

I thought that Timeslitters 2 wasn't playable *online*, just over iLink?

I have XIII and Twisted Metal for online, but there's never anyone else to play against...

EDIT: :checks topic:...oh they didnt have to be online anyway...

Oh no...I meant NFL street, not Socom II. Socom II I have but haven't played extensively. My brother's friend thinks the controls suck, but I think if you played around with it a while it would be fine.

Like I said...it's fun...just make sure you don't have a gf b/c that game will suck up all your free time.
