Supposedly an ibook. The seller provided pics and quick correspondence. I mentioned escrow, but it was a no go. Seller did offer to set up an auction, though.

Seems too good to be true. I corresponded with the seller, but after several emails, he/she didn't even give me a name. But I got an address and a serial number.

Not saying it's a scam...but buyer beware.

I am confused?
Was it an Ibook or a Powerbook this post is for.
If you saw the Pics please share your observations.

I can not seem to get any response from this person at all to repeated attempts so I too am somewhat nervous now about this post.

The pictures were of a 12' iBook. And the specs match up to an iBook too.

I don't think anybody said that you were scamming. A few people stated that was their opinion, but to each their own. G4 iBook's say iBook G4 under the screen where the G3 just says iBook. Anyways, I'm still interested but I would like to get accurate details or pictures first, which I feel is understandable. Good luck with your sale.

Jayson801 - I think you'll find the people on these boards to be honest and open in their dealings and they expect the same from others. Escrow.com is the commonly accepted 'safest' way to a deal especially with someone who has no eBay or heatware refs. The lack of enthusiasm for escrow makes people suspicious...

The pics and story are a little odd to...there's an adapter in the pics, the iBook (no G4), the aol address...a few bits of potentially bad juju.

We want to know the specs of your item. If it's a G4, then we need to see pics of the G4. If it's a G3...then list the specs for the G3. I don't understand where the problem lies here. You can't expect to advertise one thing and send different pictures and expect people not to be curious. for the record.....it is an IBOOK.

I exchanged a few emails with Jayson801 not long after this appeared. Asked for a few more details, and was told it was already sold It appears it's still available, though I haven't heard anything further directly. The pictures are of an iBook G3, the price is about right for an iBook G3; But specs are definitely G4.

Usually trying to sell off a computer without power supply for a super bargain price signifies one thing to me...anyway, something somehow doesn't smell right here.

Perhaps he is just a naive Windows kid...

I have tried on 6 emails to get any contact at all regarding this machine.
So far I have not heard back at all!

So it seems ;
The thing is completely misrepresented in every way,
No Power Supply,
No contact regarding the pictures or to sell
Defensive and superficial explanations from the seller.

I am not calling anyone any names but I don't have to burn my hand to see if a fire is real or not.

Anyone here willing to bet on this?

It was a scam. Come on, it just had too many red flags.
