Anyone been advised that there keychain needs to be updated.I just got this when opening mail a while back.I have never seen this type of message before.Why would it show up now for no reason.It states that mail has been updated or it is a virus.

Yeah, whenever an updated app asks for Keychain access, Keychain will want authentication. It's nothing to worry about at all. It only adds more security.

Yep - confirmed. Every time I sleep/wake my computer hangs now. I have a PMG4 Sawtooth - upgraded to 1GHz.

I have a USB2 card installed. It was "compatible" with sleep - I tested about 5 different cards before I got the one I have now. The type of hang is different from the ones I had while testing, they would all fail when I put the system to "sleep" where these new hang-ups are all happening on "waking" from sleep.

I also have a wacom Intuos2 - perhaps that I causing my issue. Does anyone know where, if any, detailed KP information is saved?

This is normal - Mail changed due to being updated, so the OS asks you whether it should still be allowed to access the keychain.

The reason it does this is that if a virus altered the Mail app, it would then have access to all the passwords in the keychain. Obviously, this would be a Bad Thing. The OS warns you, therefore, when an app (like Mail) that needs to use the keychain has been changed. If it's a change you know about (like having just run Software Update), then you know it's okay. If this just came out of nowhere, it would be something to be suspicious about.

This, or words to this effect have been posted about:

"In /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins. Control-click on PithHelmet.bundle and and Show Package Contents. Open the info.plist file. Find MaxBundleVersion and change it to 420." ( I believe the previous number was 417.)

It worked for me.

Privoxy. Never breaks after an update, works on all browsers and it's free. Once you learn how to incorporate your own rules, it's simple to manage.

I just restarted after installing 10.4.7 so no guarentee it will remin that way, but as of right now I'm typing in blissful MacBook Pro Silence.

I am having sort of the same issue. When I wake from sleep, the screen looks like an old Atari or NES when you take the cart out without turning the power off. Nothing but blocks of colors. Nothing works except a reboot. Crash logs show nothing.

Well, Sort of disregard my last post.

The Whine is not gone, it's just become intermittent. It's there at first boot and eventually goes away (I haven't found a trigger yet).

As mentioned earlier, the mirror trick does not work after updating.

After the update my 'New Tab' button had gone from Safari, and Safari Enhancer won't work with the new Safari. Ah well. Why the hell Apple don't give you the option in the first place I'll never know.

My 10.4.6 installation had been totally rock solid.

So I did everything I could think of to upgrade to 10.4.7 successfully:

- waited a couple days
- reboot, repair permissions (no issues), reboot, and full disk image backup
- reboot, repair permissions (no issues), combo update

All seemed to be happy. I actually didn't notice any changes. Everything worked for a day.

Then I started having these seemingly random occurances:

- Safari would repeatedly crash on a website that I always used (and required).
- Immediately Firefox started crashing on every startup.
- It took two reboots and permission fixes (no issues found) to fix these.
- Setting desktops to a picture folder hung Desktop & Screen Saver [edit]
- .Mac/iDisk then started limping along, spinning balls, applications not responding, etc.
- The last draw was when Safari lost auto-fill settings.

I've gone back to my 10.4.6 disk image. Life is wonderfully rock-solid again.

I think I'll wait a couple months. Maybe 10.4.8 will stabalize the system again.

Well, I'm not getting any of these problems. Probably you just had something go wrong during the update (or maybe you're using some InputManager hack that's screwing things up). Do you still have the crash logs for Safari and Firefox around?

I wanted to be totally sure - it seems to be a very common recommendation here. It's easy to do. I was being very careful and checking things every step of the way. The whole upgrade process seemed to go perfectly well. And things ran great for a day.

Odd... my install of 10.4.7 worked perfectly well until last night, when all hell broke loose. After waking my iBook (see sig) from sleep, the Finder began continually crashing and restarting every 30 seconds or so. "Odd," I thought. So I tried logging out and back in, hoping that would solve the problem. At this point, the Finder worked well again, though much more slowly than usual. Meanwhile, neither Safari nor Adium would load past bouncing in the dock. A full restart of my computer seems to have fixed the problem, but it was odd nonetheless.

Oh, and just for the record: I repaired permissions afterwards, and only found errors with a few widgets, which happens often enough on my system.

I'm not positive this is a 10.4.7 issue, but since updating I've noticed that the Mail.app icon in the dock no longer shows the number of new, unread e-mail messages. Also, the date is not showing correctly in the iCal icon. It's stuck on 17 every day.

Why aren't these icons updating the way they used to? Is anyone else having this (slightly annoying) problem?

UPDATE: Fixing permissions didn't help, but a restart cured both problems.
