I'm getting a 1.25 Ghz Albook from ebay soon, and I'm wondering what revision it would be (I'm pretty sure it's A because from what I can gather they never made 1.25 rev Bs, but I'm not sure). Also, are there any differences between Rev A and Rev B that would warrant getting a Rev B laptop (the price difference is about $400. If someone could list any major differences I would appriciate it. Thanks in advance.

Well is the one PB 1.25 rev a or rev b, and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each revision. The one I'm planning on buying has an apple care warranty until november, so if anything goes horribly wrong I can get it fixed.

If I were you, I would pay the extra money for the rev B (1.33-1.5 Ghz) machine. The rev A PowerBook G4s had numerous screen issues, such as white spots and uneven illumination. In fact, I am currently waiting on a rev B replacement for my 1.25 because it went into repair 3 times with many components replaced multiple times. If you take a look at the thread "Uneven Illumination" in the Apple Discussions, there are almost 800 replies, all about this problem with the rev As. So far, it has not turned up often on the rev B machines. I also believe the rev B model is better quality overall, with Apple having some time to fix numerous issues. The rev B model also has better battery life.

If I have an Applecare warranty, and the screen breaks on my Rev A PB, will they fix it for free? Also, assuming my PB doesn't get screen problems, is it still worth paying the extra money for a rev B?

I personally think that the Rev A's are very comparable to the new machines released. Although it seems to be a game of luck to get a machine with no screen flaws but if Applecare is still available you're in the clear till it runs out.
