Ok, I have a new macbook pro with leopard and an older powerbook g4 with panther. I stumbled across a youtube video that had screenrecycler running on leopard and vnc thing running on an older powerbook. The way it was set up was where the powerbook was like an extension of the monitor for the newer computer. I think this is dual screen mode? Not sure if i'm using the right phrase. That way when you moved the mouse off the right side of the new computer, it appeared on the left side of the screen on the powerbook. I have both programs installed on their respective computers, but all I can get is the powerbook to remote access the macbook pro's screen. Does anyone know how to proceed from here? I also can't find the youtube video anymore bummer. otherwise I'd link to show you what I was talking about. Thanks for any help. Or if you know if there's a way to do this with a cable that'd be better, but the genius at the apple store said networking would be the only way.

1. Run ScreenRecycler on the computer you want to to act as an additional display

2. On your other Mac, run the JollyFastVNC (or some other VNC client like Chicken of the VNC) and select the Mac running ScreenRecycler.

That should be all there is to it. ScreenRecycler supports Bonjour, so it will detect your Macs on the network easily.

Not sure what you meant by "cable," though. But because ScreenRecycler is a network-based application, you'll have to rely on getting your Macs on the same network.
