Great game, what a nail-biter. Obviously I'm not thrilled with the outcome, but it was certainly fun to watch.
Eli Manning played amazing, hats off to him.

Woohoo! Eli's da man. Always nice to see Brady lose too, so it's a win-win.

For a Superbowl, this game was pretty boring. Only the last 10 minutes were really worth watching.
Did ANYTHING happen in the 2nd and 3rd quarter ? I already forgot.

I thought the end of first half touchdown was pretty good. But I didn't watch the rest.

Were you impressed ?
Would you call this game an "instant classic" ?
There were (of course, as in many games) some very nice moments (like the crap-in-the-endzone-touchdown), but overall, the game was not spectacular.

It had some of the most amazing circus-style catches I've seen in any SB, and Eli put on a clinic showing how to be a clutch QB.

I was impressed with how close the game was from start to finish. I was impressed with the Giants kicker and his couple amazing shots. I was impressed with both QBs, but especially Manning's poise and precision. Manningham's catch ( the whole play, including the throw) was simply amazing, really astounding show of athleticism.
The game was clean, both teams played very well and the better group won. I don't see how it was boring at all, maybe you had no interest in the outcome, but that doesn't make the game any less exciting.

Certainly helps when your receivers make catches too. Not trying to take away any of Manning's due props, he deserves them all, but there were a few key throws Brady put on the money that weren't grabbed.

This is true, the Pats receivers choked big time and were key to their defeat. Doesn't matter how good your QB, in the modern game, if your players can't catch passes that are hitting them in the hands, your team is doomed.

Just out of curiosity, why are they referred to as "World Champions" when they only play U.S. teams?

Doesn't change the fact that "football", aka. soccer, is boring as hell. That may be painful for many, but it's true.
Now rugby and ARF, those are fun.

Its a cultural thing. American Football seems to me like a combination of instant gratification and "bigger is better". By bigger is better I mean simply that you guys on the other side of the pond seem to like big scores in most of your sports. Basketball is a better example but the problem with it is that when you get two well-matched teams and it comes down to the last second then the first three quarters become pretty much a big waste of everyone's time.
By instant gratification I mean that NFL while a highly tactical sport requires that each tactic or play either pays off or doesn't straight away.
In soccer, everything is more subtle and flowing. Tactics are tweaked as vulnerabilities become exposed during the course of a game let alone a season. I agree that 0-0 sounds dull but its by no means guaranteed. Between quality teams these games are often still packed with scoring chances and individual skill as well as tactical nuances. Its often a moment of individual skill that can decide a game or a momentary lapse of concentration that can lead to the mistake that costs the game or even therefore the league or cup. Throw in the fact that you can't sub your whole team in or out several times a game and tiredness/athleticism adds another dimension.
Its an old argument but a 5-4 thriller settled in the last minute of extra injury time is so much better when 0-0 is a viable option.
The underdog has better chance to win at soccer too. In the English FA Cup a team of overweight, unpaid blue-collar workers has a real chance of embarrassing the team of multi-millionaire global superstars. I don't even know if they get the opportunity to try in NFL, but can you see them having a chance if they did? Not sure I can.
Ultimately I don't think its fair to compare the two sports the way that people do. Superficially they are similar but when you get into it they have very little in common. I got bored within minutes when I tried to watch last years Superbowl but I managed to stick it out to the end this time. It probably would have been more entertaining if I understood some of the less obvious rules and subtleties. It took me a while to work out why that one guy near the end didn't want to score.
I don't know how easy it would be to find the whole games even if you wanted to watch them but last years Carling Cup final was a good example of an underdog winning against the odds. Birmingham City got relegated from the Premier League last season but they still managed to beat Arsenal when no-one thought they stood any chance at all.
For the life of me I can't find a decent highlight reel with english commentary:

Here are some classics:
