I thought that a member of the Macnn forums might be a bit smarter than me. I am taking a condensed 8 week algebra course in order to graduate university. The weekly homework assignments are the biggest part of the grade. Is there anyone who might be willing to help me out so I can get this over with?

Thanks

joe

I'm not trying to be rude but isn't algebra a core class and you're trying to take it to graduate? I'm OK at math and I've passed and finished all of my math courses (Algebra, Calc, and Stat) but I'm not tutor worthy.

agreed. This doesn't appear to just be help with a question you're stuck on, but straightforward solicitation.

Try finding someone within your school or a friend that is good at math. That is what I have done. I have a couple of post-doc friends that are really good at math that help me when need be.

I'd find buddies at university and do the homework together. This is a lot more productive and you learn something that you will be useful later on in life.

You don't add and subtract numbers on a regular basis, for instance?
Just take a simple example: you're making a party for 30 people and you want to buy food and drinks for everybody. You want to have, say, 4 kg of meat, but not all of one kind. Also, your budget for the meat is limited to some amount. Suddenly you're in the realm of (linear) algebra

Either that or you tell the people to bring their own food.

Wait - he's in college so he won't need food at this party, just a keg.

So the real question is:

What's your keg cup outlay to profit ratio given a $4 door fee? Calculate the increase of projected partygoers due to word of mouth (delta P sub m). Factor in the need to lock your bedroom door to keep random strangers from doing it on your bed. Quantify the effects on the outcome from hangovers, furniture breakage, vomit stains, and police intrusion?
Be clear. Give examples. Graph your results.
You can take the dude out of So Cal, but you can't take the dude outta the dude, dude!
