Like I said, I'll be the first one to call those people morons. I've seen that snake church segment on some tv show a long time ago. Those snake church idiots aren't in charge of any government and they never will be. That's a significant difference between them and the other lunatics who are in fact the government in certain places. How many members does that snake church have worldwide ? 25 ? 50 ? If they ever get nukes, I'm sure we'll bomb them also.

difference is, most people in the West look at snake handlers and think - ok, that's your thing, whatever... okaaay. Most people don't think, "wow, I want them to run the country!".

Whereas, it could be argued that whoever does/comes out with the craziest stuff in certain other countries/cultures gets the most support. It's, "look at the man screaming and banging himself in the head, that looks like a good idea, I'll copy that and do whatever he wants".

If a politician acted like that in the West they'd be sectioned (UK term for being taken into a psychiatric institution regardless of your own wishes). Other politicians/supporters wouldn't get up and start hitting themselves in the head.

Put it this way, if GW did that during the state of the union and Rumsfeld and Cheny got up and started jumping up and down, hitting themselves in the head, what would you think?
