Read my lips: THE INTERNET IS NOT FREE ANYMORE.

Still, another underhanded tactic by Microshaft...

I'm emailing all my Hotmail user/friends this article...maybe they'll finally see the light... <img border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" title="" src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" />

She's a freelance writer. Her writings = her source of income. So she puts the only version of her income source completely into the hands of Microsoft, and gets upset when they don't care for it to her standards.

If it's that important to you, take personal responsibility for it's safekeeping. This was an avoidable problem.

At least Apple has made it clear what the future of your @mac.com address is.

Didnt Algore create the internet?

and...
Microsoft couldnt 1 Apple even if Jesus Christ intervened... Their company is based on lies, useless products with too many features "Ganesh" dosent have enough hands to use and a man with a trampoline room in his house.

i just want to say you guys should be lucky to a option like .mac at all

because apple has the whole widget it can tightly integrate it's shizniz together

yeah, they're charging for it. but they're giving you soooo much more than microsoft is.

.mac is Not for just regular plain email anymore and should not be looked upon as a free email oasis. if you're not interested in a digital lifestyle, then options like hotmail and yahoo mail remain your best options.

Seriously, the days of the free internet are coming to an end. We've all enjoyed a good ride, and it's not going to be a drastic change overnight, but all these services cost money.

Regarding the people who are losing their e-mails from Hotmail; it is their responsibility to make sure their missives are safe! This is no different than having files on a hard drive, and then the hard drive dies; one thing I preach to my customers fanatically is BACKUP, BACKUP, AND THEN MORE BACKUP! Schtuff happens; be prepared for it!
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

I don't know about you guys, but I finished the internet a long time ago. That's why I ended up in these dumb forums talking to all the others that are so bored with the internet content all they want to do is get together to gripe about it.

Internet is overrated.

What a scam!

I will believe that M$ is cleaning up Hotmail when I don't receive 50+ junk email messages per day... My account is circa Hotmail pre Microsoft so I can always say that...

Sorry, but if they did indeed give warning and the users didn't archive their stuff at that time, I have no sympathy for them. It's a free service, for crying out loud. Microsoft doesn't owe them a darn thing, and they were warned.
Is this a good place for an argument?

One part of the problem to me is the warning seems to have only been released about 1 month before they started doing this. Nevermind that many people receive e-mail and don't always read everything believing it could be spam. I get nothing but spam most of the time, so deleting stuff is almost a hair trigger reaction for me.

I have no sympathy for ANY Hotmail users. They should've learned from the FIRST TWO TIMES Microsoft did this.

It's pathetic. If people think they can actually trust their information with Microsoft, I have some beach front property on f*ckin' Jupiter to sell you.

She gets zero sympathy from here. Too many times I've been on the receiving end of raging users that ignored multiple direct warnings. Some people just like to learn their lessons the hard way.
