would i beable to put a 160gb hard drive in my imac g3 even though the max for it is 128gb or 120gb something like that would it work or would i need something for it or will it only read 128gb and not the whole 160gb?
im new to macs i been using pc's for awhile hel pme out plz

I believe it will work, but you'll only be able to create a 128GB partition on the drive.

From what I've read over the years the G3's can't handle anything over 137 GB. So, if you install a 160 GB HD, you'd only be able to access 137 GB.

there is no price difference between a 120 and a 160. you won't be able to use the full 160 but only 128gb after formatting. which still is about 20gb more than the 120gb model. go for an external 500gb instead if you want storage space.
i installed a fully loaded 200gb into my g3, it all seemed to work fine, could access all the files, which was weird. then i tried to add a small file and that didnt work. though
