Yeah, I saw that today. Their canister vac would be awesome, too, but all his stuff just takes up too much room.

I will say, though, between my Dyson DC07 and Sanyo SC-180, I'm a happy camper.

No it's not.

I actually used to be a vacuum cleaner salesman (Kirby, mainly), and I can assure you that Dyson's claims are legit.

Expensive? To some, but not to all of us.

Well, lol, Kirby's do suck.

The thing is, a plain vanilla European model for $ 150 will do as good as a Dyson for $ 600.
I don't like the typical US design, they mostly blow, not suck.

I spent $500 for my Dyson Animal. I'm glad I did. It gets stuff NOTHING ELSE can, and I've probably saved $500 in dust bag costs from just having the thing not need 'em. But the claims are true: they NEVER lose suction. Even when you get them overfull, they still suck big time.

Now I don't NEED a Root 6 because of all the wondermus attachments with my Animal, but if I needed something to get into small spaces and didn't have the Animal, this would be THE thing.

We had two of the early Dysons, they have both fallen apart and I won't let my parents buy another one. We also used to have a Kirby many moons ago herritage 2 I think it was, the power socket on it broke, it got fixed, went to my sister who moaned that it smelled like burning and chucked it out.

I had a Dyson I bought for the wife from Sears last month.
After 2 weeks she clogged it.
I mean clogged it good.
Cockatoo feathers did a number on all the little porous openings.
I took it back to them in disbelief.
I replaced it with a Kenmore Progressive direct drive. No belts.
And it has a filter you can beat out all the clogging cockatoo dander.(we have 14)

All men are created equal, but what they do after that point puts them on a sliding scale.

Yeah, but was it as good for you as it was for Mr. Dyson?

You can remove the clear plastic bin and clean out those little holes on th Dyson. It's very easy to do.

Please forgive my ignorance... but could you please enlighten me with regard to your US vs. European model claim. I'm familiar with canister vs. upright.

I actually took the plunger part out and cleaned the cyclone system with water. Let it dry for about 12 hours and you're good to go. Not that it was losing suction, but I just like to keep things in nice order. I bought that dusting brush atachment the other day from besy buy, and it's well worth the 30.00. Makes dusting those high shelves and mini-blinds much, much faster and easier The DC07 is the best Vacuum that I've ever owned, hands down.

Prevalent model that I found in Europe:

You'd also find these kind of vacuums:

The consumer reports I read (German Stiftung Warentest) do NOT show that Dysons are superior by design. You can get vacuums like the first I posted for EUR 120-150 that have an overall better performance than a EUR 500 Dysons.

Miele is a good make of vacuum, my sister has one.

We have a £89 graded stock Vax off eBay. It's our 3rd one. The first got stolen in the 90's, the second is on it's last legs and in the garage and the 3rd has paid for itself and was bought because of the dog. Hoovers, Washes, sucks all the water out of the bottom of the dishwasher when it blocks up

I'm curious. What is the difference between the Animal and the standard all floor model (except for the cost?) More amps? I'd love to get a Dyson (7 cats and 3 birds) and I've gone through alot of vacuums because of that. But the cost has been an issue.

The Animal has has more attachments.

I DID take the Dyson apart and wash it out.
Remember, feather parts become barbed shafts. so they stick in holes very well,
The keratin feather casings did wash out but 30 percent of the holes were still clogged.
My wife didn't want to have to gut the vacuum every third use.(dumpng of the collector)

The first filter on the Kenmore if like a K&N. You can flush it out. And feather parts bang right off of it.
Her only other option was a bag type. And she'd fill a bag too soon.(Remember 14 cockatoos)
All men are created equal, but what they do after that point puts them on a sliding scale.

The part I'm referring to is the little trigger (if you will) that you pull up to release the bottom of the canister to empty it. That comes off with 3 Torx screws, revealing the inside of the root systmem to be cleaned out. Note: If you do this, make sure you put it back together correctly, or your release button won't release anything.

It's sort of like a plunger. . .

It's a DC07 with more attachments. There's a floor cleaner head and a special, vacuum-powered furniture and carpet touchup head that are built to catch pet hair - and do a great job of it too!

Holy cow, that is scary. That's something I would expect to see in an operating room.
