So saw this. The films most interesting accomplishment is how it stretches the English language to find words to describe how appalling it is as a film.

Loud, dumb and stupid entirely fails to cover it.

The only tiny glimmer of charm is Stanley Tucci's post Steve Jobs tech boss.
John Goodman should hang his head in shame. In actual shame.
You know, that thing Michael Bay has none of.

As you were.

Transformers is one of many classic examples of movies/franchises they really should have asked me to be in charge of.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

It's a roll call of actors that really need to learn to say no. Am looking at YOU Mr Nimoy!

Oh he was 'The Fallen' wasn't he?

He was also Galvatron in the original movie.

"In disguise"? Did you not see some part of the previous three movies?

The first transformers movie was bad. The second one was probably the single worst movie I have ever seen.

Fool me once, shame on you... Fool me twice, shame on me... fool me a third and fourth time? Uh...

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

… in disguise? I don't think anything was disguised, sure it was worse than the other transformer movies, but I also found those pretty abysmal.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I briefly considered seeing this (all the other movies we'd wanted to see were surprisingly sold out) but I'm glad I didn't.

Dark of the Moon was the only one that was remotely tolerable. Part of it is due to Megan Fox usually causing me to have a gag reflex when I see her.

According to IMDB, he was Sentinel Prime in the third. I have absolutely no memory of who that was.

Transformers:The Movie has interesting voices for several of the new robots (the regular actors do the ones who used to appear in the cartoon), including the final appearance of Orson Welles as the voice of Unicron. I guess he would have wanted to end his career on a somewhat different note.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I dunno, Unicron was pretty awesome.

And yes, I recall Sentinel Prime now. Not a patch on Galvatron.

Transformers 2007 I thought was awesome though had some annoying lines.
Transformers 2009 I thought had very bad taste and made no sense.
Transformers 2011 was super stupid (almost American Pie Beta House stupid)

Transformers 2014... am I supposed to go into this movie drunk before I watch it...?

I think the new one is probably better than the third one actually. Slightly drunk might not hurt.

Just remembered Eric Idle was another voice on the original. And Weird Al on the soundtrack of course.

Haven't seen a single one of them. Should I even bother with the first one ?

I don't know, how bored are you? It's a stupid summer movie that doesn't do anything obviously wrong. There are many movies like that.

I watched the first and promised to never go through that again.

Also, there's a fifth coming out in 2015 or 2016.

Yes, the fourth one drops some hints that there is more to come.

All the TF movies require a certain suspension of not just disbelief, but of skepticism. If you are capable of being entertained by giant transforming special effects knocking the crap out of each other and the surrounding architecture, you'll enjoy these films enough as something to relax with while you have a beer or two.
If Michael Bay's shaky-cam and constant cutting to other angles drives you mad, or if you will groan at the idea that these alien super robots need the help of a cocky kid and his girlfriend in order to save the planet because its a step too far, you should avoid them.

Bay has a totally raging hardon for all things military doesn't he? In the cartoons and comics, these robots (who were millions of years old) couldn't be touched by anything that human armed forces had at their disposal. Soldiers were no more significant than civilians, just something for the Autobots to try to protect. I get the impression that someone involved in these movies couldn't handle that idea.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I don't go into any movie, expecting "perfect" or "believable". I just go (well, stay home...got my own theater) to enjoy, in this case, shit blowing up.
