I'm really surprised at how rare this is. Reading the article, it says the last time someone tested positive in the industry was in 1999. Looks like porno is about the safest place to get a little these days....

Whats even scarier is this:

"negative HIV tests within 30 days of the start of production."

HIV's window period is 3 months, 'cause thats how long it may take the body to produce detectable antibodies. That means you musnt have had sexual contact for 3 months, then get a negative result to be confirmed clean by a standard ELISA test. They say PCR DNA tests can clear you sooner, but the only sure way is an ELISA test.

"Mary Carey, an adult movie star who ran for governor of California last fall, said she had not worked with the HIV-infected actor or his co-stars. However, as a precaution she was canceling a lesbian porn shoot even though she did not consider it risky."

no matter, it was a guy who was the infected and they used vivid as a industry leader who practiced safe practices- condoms and tests 30 days before shooting. nothing was said about vivd being the firm (ha!) that this happened in.

The CNN article said there was a list posted on an "industry" site (AVN?).

Lara Roxx Diagnosed as HIV-Positive
By: Scott Ross
04-15-2004

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - As feared, one of the women who worked with Darren James has tested HIV-positive. Lara Roxx, one of three Canadians in the first-generation, has just been confirmed positive by the Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM).

Roxx, who is either 18 or 19-years-old, performed in a mini-gang bang scene with Darren James, Mark Anthony, Maxxx Black on March 24. Anthony and Black performed a double anal with Roxx, as part of that scene. Black is now quarantined as a member of a new line of the virus.

Roxx had only been in the adult industry for three months. Her scene with James and Anthony was her first double anal.

Current List of Quarantined Performers
By: Scott Ross
04-15-2004

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - On April 12, Darren James was confirmed as HIV-positive. The Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation (AIM) immediately began the process of containing the virus by quarantining everyone who may have come in contact with the disease, ensuring that it doesn't become an epidemic.

HIV-postive: Darren James and Lara Roxx. Now there are two lines of the HIV virus to track. James' has Line A. Roxx has line B.

First-Generation of Line A: Thirteen women are known to have worked with Darren James during the time he is believed to have been HIV-positive. This list is considered complete.

These women are: Jocelyn (3/19/2004); Dynasty (3/25/2004), Annie Cruz (3/29/2004); Banesca, Persia, Miss Arroyo (3/30/2004); Kayla Marie, Jessica Dee (4/07/2004); Lara Roxx (3/24/2004), Skyler Banks, Patrice Petite, Candy Ray, Deserie Clark, and Kayla Marie again (4/08/2004).

The dates following each group of names is when it is believed that the women in that group worked with James.

Second-Generation of Line A: The group of performers, both male and female, that have worked with members of the first-generation since their scene with James. _This list is far from complete.

The following are on the second-generation list: John Strong, Carlos Mendes, Mark Anthony, T.T. Boy, Sean Michaels, Julian St. Jox, Mark Davis, Jason Zupalo, Mark Ashley, Duane Cummings, Judy Starr, Marco T., Brock, Dominico, Mark, Sledge Hammer, Brian Pumper, Steven St. Croix, Alex Sanders, Tony Sexton, Brian Surewood, Rhiannon Bray, Alberto Ray, Kelli Starr, Jean Val Jean, Mark Anthony and L.T. Turner.

First-Generation of Line B: Maxxx Black, Darren James, Mark Anthony, (3/24/2004) Tyler Knight (3/25/2004).

Second-Generation of Line B: Rayveness and Eva Lux

Dammit.

After years of all those penis enlargement spam messages I got, I finally thought that maybe they were on to something and I could break into the industry .

Ah, no.

Jessica Dee Identified as Third HIV-Positive Performer
By: Scott Ross
CHATSWORTH, Calif. -

Jessica Dee's agent has confirmed that the Czech performer is the third victim of the current HIV outbreak. Dee worked with Darren James, the veteran performer believed to have originated the outbreak, on March 24, the same day that James worked with Lara Roxx, the first woman to test positive in the current outbreak.

AIM Healthcare Foundation (AIM) declined to identify Dee when they announced earlier today that they another performer had tested positive for HIV, citing legalities of disclosing such information.

However, Dee and those close to her knew yesterday that she had tested positive, and once AIM confirmed the results today, word quickly spread as to who the new HIV-positive performer was.

Dick Nasty, Dee's agent, told AVN.com that Dee was "in hysterics," and was expected to return to the Czech Republic in the near future.

"What can you say, it's such a shame. We all knew it was possible and so did she, but that doesn't make it any easier," Nasty said.

Dee, 26-years-old and a 5-year veteran of the adult industry, had worked with only five men during the time between her scene with James and when her quarantine began.

Both members of James _first- and second-generation lists were quarantined on April 13, when it was announced that James was HIV-positive. Dees first-generation were already on James second-generation list, thus they were already quarantined.

Dees first-generation list, with the date she worked with each performer in parentheses following each name, includes: Sean Michaels (4/07), Julian St. Jox (4/07), Mark Last (4/10), Brock (4/10), and Carlos Mendes (4/12).

Lara Roxx, from Montreal, was the first member of James first-generation list to be diagnosed as HIV-positive. Her name was released upon her diagnosis because her other partners were not known at that time.

"This is a testimony to the containment system because for the first time in AIM's history we do not and will not [disclose the identity of the HIV-positive performer]," AIM's executive director Sharon Mitchell, PhD, told AVN.com. "We don't expect there to be a second-generation in her case, because everyone has been placed in quarantine for 60 days.

Sources inform AVN.com that Bianca Biaggi has been identified as the Brazilian native that Darren James is believed to have caught the HIV virus from.

The same sources report that Biaggi is currently being sought so that she may be tested for HIV. It is not yet clear how she has been determined to be the person who may have infected James.

James is believed to have caught the virus while shooting in Brazil, around March 10.

That is very sad. There is still no cure for HIV/AIDS. Some of the virus by replicating have become resistant to current treatment. So the best plan is to be safe. Unprotected sex with unknown partners is dangerous to health. This just might bring about a revolution in how porn filming is done.
