Well I just inserted a CD into my MacBook (OSX 10.4.7) but it doesn't get mounted on the desktop nor is it in /Volumes.

How do I eject the CD?

Or, at the far right of the CD/DVD slot is a little tiny manual eject button. Press with paper clip with power on. Disk comes to you!

I know you can go into Open Firmware (cmd-option-O-F during boot) and type 'eject cd' with PowerPC Macs, no idea if it is the same with intel Macs…

If you're using Parallels then you'll have to quit the program in order to get the CD to mount to OS X. I don't know if that's the case for you, I've had it happen a few times though

Worst comes to worst you can reboot holding down the mouse button. As long as it's a usb mouse it will eject any media in the optical drive.

I've had this problem in some cases but haven't found trying Disk Utility to fail yet.
