Some say this could be fake but unsure. Hope not and hope the final release is close. Can't wait for the full release.

/System/Core Services/SystemVersion.plist
Edit that and you can make the build number anything you want it to be.

Thanks .... gave this a quick go and I was easily able to change the version myself.

The only thing that gets me is the Darwin version in the last screenshot...10.0.1 versus 10.0.0 in 10A432. Anyone know where I can edit that plist?

Well, that certainly lends credibility to the impending-release rumors.

Along with the fact that Apple has started charging people's CCs for the up-date DVD. They usually don't charge until just before they ship.

The person who posted the pics has been asked by man to do some kind of install from the discs to confirm the build but no word. At least if these are real discs and the person can install and confirm the build it would show what version the GM is.

If it's any consolation, I am no longer able to cancel my order for my up-to-date disc. I haven't been charged (yet) but I'm guessing sometime in the next 24-48hrs that will change also.

Perhaps 10A435 is the first build of 10.6.1, then.

It would be Darwin 10.1.0 if it was a 10.6.1 build. Further, it wouldn't be a 10Axxx build either.

Well, maybe. But if 10A435 was really GM then it would still be 10.0.0.
At any rate, this is stupid. This is 4K83 all over again.

I wasn't saying it's 10.6 GM, just that it's not a 10.6.1 build. Personally, I think it doesn't exist and is just a hoax by someone.

Probably not 10A435. This has happened with every release of Mac OS X. A build gets seeded that rumors say is GM. In every single case, people have brought up a newer build that is the supposed "real GM." In every single case the originally rumored build is the GM and not the newer build.
OS X 10.0: GM was 4K78. People swore that 4K83 would be it. Nope. In the box was 4K78.
OS X 10.1: GM was 5G64. Then 5G68 popped up in rumors. In the box was 5G64.
OS X 10.2: GM was 6C115. But rumors spoke of a "6C115b" ("b?" Really? Apple never used those little letters in official releases). In the box was 6C115. No "b."
OS X 10.3: GM was 7B85. Rumors had it that the 7Cxx branch was going to be GM. Nope. In the box was 7B85.
OS X 10.4: GM was 8A428. Rumors said it's really 8A432. In the box was 8A428.
OS X 10.5: GM was 9A581. I'm not aware of a newer build that people said was the "real" GM. In the box was 9A581
OS X 10.6: GM was 10A432. And now we have 10A435.
But what's in the box will be 10A432.
After so many wrong guesses, I always tend to believe the original rumors. You watch, though. With my luck, the above trend will reverse with 10.7.

In the Dev Forums, and Apple rep said very plainly that "[we] will be able to upgrade from 10A432 to the final retail release of Snow Leopard."
Take that for what it's worth...

Hopefully developers will get it before the public so that they can release updates to their programs and have them ready by Friday or shortly after if needed.
I know with Leopard we didn't get to download until what, 9pm EST the night of launch?

Yes, Developers did get it before the public. They got build 10A432, which is going to end up being what's in the box.
10A435 is not available for download.

Yes. I see what you're getting at... but, unless this newer build was released to manufacturing at the same time that 10A432 was released to developers there's no way it could be pressed to disc fast enough to make it to stores by Friday.
Another things to consider is that Apple has NEVER publicly declared the GM builds as such. 4K78, 5G64, 6C115, etc were all released on the seeding site labelled as prerelease builds, even though they ended up being the real deal. As for what the Apple guy said on the developer forums, it is technically correct. 10A432 can be installed on top of itself.
Look, I could easily be wrong here, but I still think that 10A432 is GM. And I have no stake in the outcome, really. I'm not installing Snow Leopard until I have the retail disc in hand on Friday, so I'm not losing any time if I'm wrong.

I completely agree. I wasn't trying to sound rude or be an ass, so sorry if it came out that way
