Since I am new to Mac, I was wondering what the best software was for creating and editting webpages. I currently use Microsoft Frontpage on my PC, but to my knowledge, there is no version of Frontpage for Office v.X.
Any suggestions on similar software for the Mac, as well as a good FTP program?

FrontPage shudder....
the best IMO is bbedit
and the free one which is not distrubited anymore...
omniweb has a built in editor which I used for a while. Simple one click check in brower, to bed OW has other flaws that make this not proactical. Unless they do use kHTML then I might switch back.
You can you always use vi or vim or just plain old textedit.

Is BBedit a WYSIWYG webpage editor?

nope. Sorry just hack the code no gui for me.
In that case I know of Adobe GoLive 6 and Macromedia Dreamweaver
I'm sure someone will be able to chime in with something else...I wonder if Netscape/Mozilla still has their WYSIWYG editor?

I'm not familiar with it, but there are many who are. Freeway is supposed to be a very nice WSIWYG page editor that doesn't cost as much as the Adobe/Macromedia options.

there's a Mac only program that's truely WYSIWYG, and it's called Freeway. It's one of those gems that make the mac platform unique!

I know it's smarmy and not what the original poster wants to hear, but it has to be said at least once in every one of these threads:
The best HTML editor is vi.

Good things in general aren't free. Freeway is good, it's not free... And Freeway Express is coming soon for only $79.

scp is free, unlicensed MacSFTP works without major restrictions (I believe).
If the server is Mac based you could make an Appletalk connection to it. If it is Linux/Unix based you could compile Netatalk and make an Appletalk connection to it.

It's not WYSIWYG, but I really like Taco HTML Edit for coding, and the plain-old CLI ftp app for FTP.
RBrowserLite is a good free GUI FTP program.
