By clicking on the "Stop Future Mailings" graphic, you will automatically
be removed from our mailing list within 24 hours. Your e-mail address will
also be added to our permanent blacklist; you'll never be able to sign up
for any of our lists, nor will you ever hear from us again.

Unlike many other lists, your e-mail address will NOT be sold to spammers
at any time, either as a current member of our list or after being
removed. We guarantee it.
I know you aren't supposed to click these links, but I wonder what harm it can do. People say that it confirms that your email is valid, but they send spam anyway - they don't care if it's valid. Has anyone ever clicked these links and actually found that it really did stop some spam???

I believe it's individual from who is behind and sending them. Some are more serious then others, but it's hard to tell sometimes.

I signet up for Bravenet some time back, and unsigned their junk mail for a few days ago, but I still receive it it appears. In the junk mail folder with it, please dear Mail.app works luckily.

I have tried unsubscribing from stuff before and I was actually quite lucky.

I think it depends on what type of thing they are trying to sell, like Viagra and Enlargement crap etc etc these are the ones that don't usually work if you click unsubscribe. It just tells them they have a valid email and they keep sending. Newsletters and stuff like that usually stop coming if you unsubscribe.

I think overall it depends on you luck, some times it works other times it doesn't!

Get a free hotmail account and use that for everything that requires an email address. Only give out your real email address to friends and family. I get 40 pieces of spam per day in my hotmail account. I never even look at them - just delete all.

Mail.app has the "bounce to sender" feature that is really a great concept but unfortunately does very little. Most spam comes from dead-end accounts or hijacked ones so the "bounce" routine only gets the returned mail error message.

I rarely give this email address out. I have a spam address - these spams are probably due to Star Wars Guy signing me up for gay porn a while ago. I guess I have forgiven him for that by now but it is still a pain in the ass.

The point is, do you think clicking those links could actually cause you to get even MORE spam?

Well I recently signed up for an account at www.mailblocks.com. They give you an option to create "tracker emails" which can be used to sign up for things, and if you get spammed you can delete the tracker and create a new one. Check it out.

Ah bugger it. The emails are coming from visionquestmedia.com, the unsubscribe linkw was at visionquestmedia.com, and visionquestmedia.com is registered to:
JOHNSTON, TONY
[email protected]
ARMORY BUILDING
VICTORIA ROAD
BASSETERRE, NA NA
KN
561-733 9959
so if I carry on getting them, I'll start phoning him from work and asking him personally to unsubscribe me.

it doesn't seem very constructive, and I imagine that if he actually uses that email address, he gets signed up by hundreds of people already I'll wait to see if it stops. I actually unsubscribed from a couple today, also:

I didn't mean to repeat myself either - I forgot that I had already mentioned it when I just posted again.
