Other than external cosmetics, are there any major differences between the G3 B&W case, and the G4 case?
I have a G3 here, and I can get my hands on a stripped G4 case for fairly cheap. If they're the same internally I'd like to get it and transplant all the stuff over, as I prefer the G4 case style much more than the B&W one.

Depends which G4 case you mean - Graphite, Quicksilver or MDD

As far as I know, G3, G4 graphite and G4 Quicksilver are pretty similar inside, the G4 MDD is completely different, with the optical drive bays in the middle of the front facing, the PCI cards at the top of the case and the hard drives mounted in different places instead of at the bottom of the case.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

the g4 pci is a perfect fit.
the agp/digital audio/quicksilver you have to set over your powermac powerbuton unit.
and have to take off all the old. logic board mounts and reposition them.
mdd wel it will never fit.
p.s. always take your psu. because the gigabit/digitalaudio/quicksilver wil blow up you board
the sawtooth psu does work
Building a xserve g5 for a 1000 euro's(1280 dollar) ;)
