I'm tempted to pick this game up. It's the best Wii game thus far, right? I thought Mario Galaxy was, but this sounds even bigger than that.

Can someone explain to me what makes this such a "great game"? I've played it, and I hate it. I've played every single game genre known to man (except those wacky Japanese sex games) and I can win just by mashing buttons and not knowing what I'm doing.

Maybe not everyone's as ****in' rad as you are, starman?

It's definitely not the best Wii game. If you had the last version, this is just more of the same. A fair bit more, but still.

Has anyone gotten any opponents online? I've tried "With Anyone" several times and nothing.

The single player campaign isn't terribly hard and can be beaten on easier levels by button mashing. If you ramp up the difficulty settings it becomes much harder to do well with that technique.

Where the game really shines is multiplayer. There is no way a button masher can win against someone who actually knows how to play. It's really a perfect party game. I've never had so much fun gaming as I do when playing Super Smash Bros with 3+ friends. And there are so many different settings to tweak on the multi-player brawls... there's always something different and fun to try.

The online is awful. That may have cut it for the DS, but with SBBM being the top seller on the GCN, Nintendo dropped the online ball with this game. Hell, MP:H on the DS was tons better than this. With voice chat, even!

Come on man, people are saying that brawl has some of the best online for a fighting game, there is lag but very little which is really nice. Like i said before, its like the halo of nintendo. But i respect your thoughts but i still think brawl is really good.

I love Brawl but I gotta agree with zro. The online aspect of the game is really bad.

- No way to know who is online without sitting around staring at your friends list. It basically means you have to already know you want to play with someone by talking to them online or over the phone. I want to be able to play single player and then message my friends who are also playing and then be notified when someone signs on.

- No chat. No voice. Nothing except for short taunt messages.

- It's slow. All it takes is one slow connection to completely lag the entire game to an unplayable state. They need to learn how to just penalize the slow connection instead of everyone.

- Even when the connection is good, I still experience .25-.5 seconds of lag.

Makes me want to forget about it and just invite some friends over to brawl in person. How long is it going to take Nintendo to fix this and see how well multiplayer works on the Xbox360?

Halo 2 perfected the system on the original xBox 4 years ago. It's ridiculous to see Nintendo keep voice chat out. WTF is the point of playing online anyways? If you can't talk to the people you're playing with you might as well play against bots. Also, having lag on a kiddie game like this worries me about Nintendo succeeding in the online environment.

Unacceptable IMO.

And this is exactly why Nintendo has a kiddy image not because of the game themes themselves.

Agreed completely. Played at a friends house and by just button mashing I was kicking ass, same as it was on the gamecube version.

Ya I have been saying the same for years. The gamecube one was a shitty button masher with Nintendo branding. It is a game you have to play with your sister cuz she will be the princess and she actually has a chance of winning.

I could play any game against my grandmother and win just by mashing buttons. That reflects more on the opponent than on the quality of the game.

Btw, Sek is definately right about the Nintendo, however, i guess the online thing was just an extra feature that would get ppl hyped ahead of time.

Because online play without friend codes is way too slow I decide to make this SUPER SMASH BROS. BRAWL Friend Code exchange site. Add you friend code, tell your friends, and make it popular. Post this link on any forum or site that you have access to. If it gets big enough I will be able to sponsor online tournaments.

You can search friends within your country, state, and city so that you can get the fastest online play.

P.S. the fastest internet connection that I have found is with a wired connection.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Friend Code Exchange

add your code, get some friends.

The complexity and strategy involved in the free-roaming combat system was always the draw of the series to me. Giving any of the games in the series a real try against very skilled players reveals that it's so completely not a "button-mashing fighter." But it can be at face value, which is why it's probably so popular; it draws folks of all ages and skill levels.

Also, I don't play much, and I pretty much button-mash, so you'll probably whoop my ass! But maybe I'll get better if I play with people other than my wife and the CPU.
