150 GB seagate barracuda in an external enclosure connected with usb 2.0
macbook pro running 10.5

From disk utility, the drive:
has a partition map scheme of GUID Partition table
is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
has a mount point of /Volumes/external1/

I can't drag items to it to copy it. When I drag a file over it, the little circular green + icon pops up indicating its writable, but nothing ever gets copied to the external drive. I'm not an idiot. Part of my job is supporting mac's :-) WTF is going on here?

From terminal:

chris-keleshians-macbook-pro-15:external1 kelesh$ ls -al
total 16
drwxrwxr-x 8 kelesh staff 340 Sep 1 15:39 .
drwxrwxrwt@ 4 root admin 136 Sep 1 15:39 ..
