my new photoprinter was until yesterday only working as standalone with an SD Card or connected to my wintel PC (mostly used for gaming purpose...;-))
It was uncompliant with my Powerbook alu 15" 1,33 mhz runing Tiger 10.4.7.
Since i could'nt get some help from Samsung because they allegedly said no more supporting further Mac OSX update (the driver provided is Panther blessed & more...) so i was stuck and a little infuriated feeling a bit ****ed up...
I tried a shareware Printer setup repair 5.0.5 (a must have) that provided an error message:
the file/private/etc/cups/ppds.dat is missing!
So i check for Cups in Google and retrieved cups.pkg 1.2.1!
the version shipped with Tiger was only 1.1
So i patched Tiger 10.4.7 with the new cups 1.2.1 and that was enough to bless my new photo printer!
and the best: it takes only 45" to get a picture printed instead of one minute on the wintel PC.
;-)
I also had keyboard issue with some latency after hiting a key on an external USB Logitech LX500: that also has been fixed after the update of cups...
unbelievable!
I'm very happy with this workaround of a messy affair being stuck with my PowerBook unable to print my pictures.
