i how a ibook g4, about 2 years old. i want to know how to find out if i have usb 2 or just 1...how can i tell?

More details on the computer will be helpful. The model number is what you need. Then you check on Apple's Support site to find out what the common name for your model is (like "Late 2004") Then you go here and see which USB port you have. For what it's worth, the "Early 2004" and "Late 2004" iBooks both have USB 2.0, so I think that's what you have.

Plug in a thumb drive and check the transfer speeds. But I think all G4 iBooks have USB 2, I might be wrong though.

download Mactracker from versiontracker.com and just search for your model.
the details will list whether it has usb 2
