Recently, My electric razor died, and I found myself at the age of 25 needing to teach myself how to shave with an old handheld razor. My parents divorced when I was young, and I never really had learned from my dad how to go about it. I had put off shaving until I received an electric razor one year. Until now I never really considered it a need. I went off everything I had seen in movies and television, and managed to get away unscathed (for the most part). It made me curious. What do you guys shave with? Electric? T-shaped-thing? (What is the correct name for that thing?) Straight?

I use a Braun electric most of the time, but I'll use a straight razor once or twice a week, or if I'm doing something or going somewhere that I feel warrants a little extra personal attention.

I've never cut myself with this baby. And yeah, I'm aware of the "Mach3" version and the new vibration gimmick. Sensor Excel blades are cheaper. If it ain't broke...

I prefer electric, but have never found one that works perfectly. So I use the Braun, then dry-shave with a disposable razor.

What that man said. Same product. Same reason.

About once every three months 'coz (1) the chicks digs me any which way, (2) I don't have a boss to keep happy and (3) I'm currently engaging in experimental laziness.

Electrics have never, ever worked for me. I used to use one of those Gilette razors.
But I've decided to grow teh beard out ever since my daughter was born last year -- now I use the razor to shave off a little bit and give the beard some definition, and an electric beard trimmer.

People (who are older than me) say I look like Grizzly Adams now.

AAA, actually.

The vibrator feature actually seems to work, I get a closer shave than I did with my old Turbo.

I had a little bit too much fun with this thing for the first week I had it. After that though, strictly business.

It does work. I figured it was just a lame gimmick when I saw the ads, but then my brother left his at the beach place once. I put one of my blades on it and was really surprised how well it worked. Granted it was a new blade, but it definitely took less passes to get a smooth shave with the vibration on.

I'm also using the Mach3 Vibrator, but I don't turn on the vibrator. That part is a joke.

So far I've gotten 4 going on 5 months from my first blade. How long have you other Mach3 users gotten?

The previous Mach 3 would last me 3 months before it would need replacement.

:-)

i'm familiar with the razor - i have one also. it's just how you referred to it that makes me laugh.

i just keep getting all sorts of inappropriate advertising images from m3 "vibrator". certainly would give an altogether different meaning to "the best a man can get". ;-)

Gillette Excell-not the Sensor model, just the Excell. No sweat and no nicks. I've never been able to get a good shave from any electric-either my beard is too tough or coarse, or my skin is too sensitive, but it just never worked.

Of course "shaving" for me is a bit different from the way it was a year ago-I have a nice beard and just shave to keep it shaped up and clean looking. Woo hoo! That's MUCH better than a "clean shave" every stinkin' morning!

How many months of shaves can you get out of your razor before you have to change?

The M3 Power does a great job. It's a handheld Mach 3 razor but it vibrates.

I still use the Schick Dimond shaver. The Diamond coating gives the closest shave becaues the blade is much harder and sharper then plain old metal. It also lasts for much longer. Sadly Schick discontinued this wonderful product. I would guess because of the higher price of the blades. It was well worth it to me. I bought dozens of these when they went on clearance. Sadly I'm almost out of them now.
I use Barbasol Aloe too. The thickest foam available I have found.

I've never liked any Schick razor I've ever tried. They all seem to clog up badly enough that you can't rinse them out. Gillette razors rinse clean every time.

Months??? I change blades 2x per week. I do, however, shave my head with it as well which wears it out faster. With just face shaving I would change weekly.

The 2 blade versions were real bad for clogging, but the 3 blade ones do not clog at all.

Are you nubbing off peach fuzz? I get 2ish weeks if I really stretch it out. I've probably been lazy and waited 3 weeks before, but by then the blade can really do a number if I'm not careful.

I have yet to find an electric razor that will cut my neck hairs without cutting me first. I even tried the latest greatest Panasonic wet/dry and Braun shavers and all they do is cause irritation and burns. I'll stick with the Mach 3 Power, though the blades run out really fast on those.

I'm sensitive in the neck area, too. The Braun 8585 Activator was the best for me. I think the daily cleaning cycle helps a lot because you always shave with clean blades.

Norelco. i've had less problems with dexterity early in the morning. Once you know how to use one it'll shave closer than a drag-across-your-face razor.
